Because of the sunshine and lack of rain, the fields are in great shape for Sports Day, and we have all been spending lots of time outdoors practicing for the various events. Other end-of-year trips are also being planned and eagerly anticipated by our students. With the signs of summer in the air, we sometimes forget that work still needs to happen. Students may need a reminder that there is still homework to do, assignments to complete, tests to study for, and expectations to meet. I encourage the teachers to continue with educational activities until as late as possible in the school year, and to avoid treating the last few weeks of school as "throwaway time." As always, school functions best when staff and parents are on the same page about matters such as this. MEMBERSHIP MEETING Please be reminded of the upcoming membership meeting, May 27 at 8pm in the school gym. A quorum is needed for the decision of the evening: budget 2015/16 and property development. Hope you will all plan to attend. PLAYGROUND SUPERVISION With only 5 weeks of school remaining, it is time to make preparations for the new year. Due to various circumstances, we have two morning supervisions that require volunteers. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings: 8:15 – 8:45. If you are able to help the school in this capacity please give the office (604-576-2144) a call. Thanks. SPORTS DAY Next Friday, May 29 th , weather permitting, we will be enjoying sports day activities. A schedule of the day’s events is attached to this snapshot. In the event of soggy weather, an alternative date will be communicated to you. YEAR END

Technically, summer is still a month away, but you'd never know it by observing the weather outside. Because

of the sunshine and lack of rain, the fields are in great shape for Sports Day, and we have all been spending lots

of time outdoors practicing for the various events. Other end-of-year trips are also being planned and eagerly

anticipated by our students.

With the signs of summer in the air, we sometimes forget that work still needs to happen. Students may need

a reminder that there is still homework to do, assignments to complete, tests to study for, and expectations to

meet. I encourage the teachers to continue with educational activities until as late as possible in the school

year, and to avoid treating the last few weeks of school as "throwaway time." As always, school functions best

when staff and parents are on the same page about matters such as this.

MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Please be reminded of the upcoming membership meeting, May 27 at 8pm in the school gym. A quorum is

needed for the decision of the evening: budget 2015/16 and property development. Hope you will all plan to

attend.

PLAYGROUND SUPERVISION

With only 5 weeks of school remaining, it is time to make preparations for the new year. Due to various

circumstances, we have two morning supervisions that require volunteers. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings:

8:15 – 8:45. If you are able to help the school in this capacity please give the office (604-576-2144) a call.

Thanks.

SPORTS DAY

Next Friday, May 29th, weather permitting, we will be enjoying sports day activities. A schedule of the day’s

events is attached to this snapshot. In the event of soggy weather, an alternative date will be communicated to

you. All students should come to school in attire appropriate to participate in sporting events, including

outdoor running shoes (no flip flops/boots please).

Kindergarten students will be dismissed for the afternoon. They are free to go home with their parents (please

let the teacher know) and if not, we ask that parents take the responsibility, or make arrangements with

another parent to supervise their K-students after the lunch break.

A lot of clothes have found their way to our lost and found box. Please check the tables in the front hall when

you come for sports day. Clothing left at the end of the school year will be bagged and donated to our Big

Brothers Clothing Fundraiser.

AFTER SCHOOL RECORDER CLUB

On Tuesday afternoons right after school, in the French room, we’ve had a ‘recorder club’ for interested

students from grade 4-7 for the last two weeks. There’s no homework involved, but students can take the

music home if they want to and practice. Any questions or comments, call or e-mail Annette Souman

([email protected]).

BIG BROTHERS

There will be one final pick up at the school by Big Brothers before the school year ends. Finish up that spring

cleaning and donate your bags of clothes, shoes, linens, purses, etc. to support Orange Aid. Any questions,

contact Hilary Slump.
