Group Practices Hands-On Environmental Clean-UpSARATOGA CO. - A local group called Friends of the Kayaderosseras believesin doing environmental clean-ups, rather than just talking about them. Two timeseach year the volunteer organization conducts clean-ups of some of the publicaccess sites along the Kayaderosseras Creek and its tributaries. It is time for theFall Clean-up, to improve the creekside environment before winter sets in andthe snow flies. Members of the public with the same “can do” attitude are invitedto grab their work gloves and assemble at Ballston Spa’s Kelley Park Pavilion at9am on Saturday, November 2nd. In case of significant rain, the work day willtake place the following Saturday, November 9th, at the same time and place.This season volunteers will be conducting clean-ups on nine sites in the watershed– maps of the area/sites will be provided. Blue Neils, the group’s ConservationDirector, observed that the several year’s of effort are showing signs of progress.As the Creek environment gets cleaner, less trash is being deposited along it’sbanks. “We are winning the battle,” said Neils. Transportation to each of the siteswill be provided. Anyone that would like to volunteer is reminded to wearweather and task-appropriate clothing (long pants, long sleeved shirts, boots, etc.)Including a sturdy pair of work gloves (preferably leather). Trail-Blazers NeededSARATOGA CO. - The public is invited to become real-life trail blazers. TheFriends of the Kyaderosseras is helping the Town of Milton to create a hikingtrail system at the Town of Milton Boyce Park. The trail goes along theKayaderosseras Creek in Milton’s Boyce Park, following the path of the historicBallston Terminal Railroad, an electric trolley line which served the mills alongthe Kayaderosseras during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Thetrail has been marked out in serveral places, but the most challenging part of thetrail, as it decends from the old trolley bed to the side of the creek, stills needs tobe established. A work party is being assembled on Saturday October 26th at1pm., with a projected finish time of 5pm. The party will gather at the Boyceparking lot on Creekside Dr., near its intersection with Rock City Rd. The partywill be digging steps, and using rocks and other available resouces to stabilizethe trail. Those interested in establishing this trail, which others will follow, per-haps for generations, are invited to join the work party. Wear appropriate clothingand bring shovels. The Friends of the Kayaderosseras is a volunteer organizationdedicated to the goal of improving the Creek, and helping to promote recreationalopportunities to enjoy one of the finest natural features of central Saratoga County.Those interested in learning more about this organization are invited to visit theirweb site at www.kayaderosseras.org.

Sedans are categorized based on size, with vehicles broken down into small, midsize and largecategories. Sedans also are classified by their styles, such as upscale, luxury, sports, and evenfuel-efficient. Longest roads in North AmericaRoad trips are popular all year long, and driving the same roads during various seasons can yieldentirely different views along the way. Many scenic highways can take travelers across the coun-try, and for those drivers interested in traveling the longest roads in North America, there are twooptions at the ready. At 4,990 miles (8,030 kilometers), the Trans-Canada Highway is the longest roadway in NorthAmerica. It is a federal-provincial highway system that travels through all 10 provinces of Canadabetween the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. A person can travel all the way from Newfoundland toBritish Columbia on the highway. The system was approved in 1949 and the highway officiallyopened in 1962. Drivers on the highway will easily recognize the green-and-white maple leafroute markers.Drivers south of the Canadian border can travel along U.S. Route 20. Spanning 3,365 miles (5,415kilometers), Route 20 is an east-west highway and the longest road in the United States. In theeast, Route 20 terminates in Boston, Mass. In the west, it ends at Newport, Ore. The "0" in theroute's number indicates it is a coast-to-coast route. Route 20 travels through Oregon, Idaho,Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Mas-sachusetts. Although the length of U.S. Route 6 was shortened when California renumbered its highways in1964 and a portion of the route was transferred to another highway, the road is the longest con-tinuous roadway in the United States.
