AA®720 Series Window & Door Systems

IntroductionThe Kawneer AA®720 Series has beendeveloped to meet the latest Europeanrequirements for thermal performance and hasbeen future proofed against expected changesin thermal regulation up to 2019.

To enable complete flexibility of design,performance and cost, the AA®720 Series isavailable in four levels of thermal performance– the AA®720, the AA®720 HW, the AA®720 HIand the AA®720 HIPlus.

The 72mm profiles incorporate the very latestthermal technology including; extrudedpolyamide and ABS thermal breaks, insulatedcentre seals, foam isolators and foam coreinsulation.

As well as being fully integrated, the range cansuite with Kawneer’s curtain walling and framingproducts and is suitable for installation in lowor high rise buildings for commercial anddomestic new build or refurbishment projects.

ConstructionCrimped or pinned with mechanical cornercleats. Corner braces are also used.

Weathering is achieved by the use of single anddual durometer, EPDM gaskets.

ConfigurationsAs well as flexibility in performance, the AA®720offers versatility in design with the rangeencompassing a wide variety of integratedwindow and door configurations. There is alsoa fire-rated AA®720 FR variant within the rangethat provides fire-rated door and fixed screensolutions.

New variants to the AA®720 range are:

Suitable for new build and refurbishmentprojects, the AA®540 is the window of choicefor all applications. Consisting of a Casement,Pivot and Tilturn window within the same suite,the AA®540 is suitable for Education,Healthcare, Commercial, Retail and Residentialmarkets where cost is the key driver.

A polyamide thermal break offers the option ofsingle and dual colour along with enhancedthermal performance. The excellent weatherperformance ensures that the AA®540 system issuitable for low or high rise applications.

Series has been designed to give specifiers atotally integrated system.

It has been developed to set new standardsin window and door systems through itsunrivalled flexibility of design and outstandingweather and thermal performance.

The Kawneer AA®600TE and AA®600TEPlus

Series is a high performance, totallyintegrated and fully co-ordinated window anddoor system. A polyamide thermal breakoffers dual colour and enhanced thermalperformance.

The range can suite with Kawneer’s curtainwalling and framing products and is suitablefor installation in low or high rise buildingsfor commercial and domestic new build orrefurbishment projects.

Aluminium framing construction incorporatesextruded polyamide thermal break profileswhich mechanically interlock with inner andouter aluminium extrusions in a bi-tubularconfiguration to produce fixed frames oropening frames to suit performance and costrequirements.

With the use of extruded gasket profiles, this system achieves its weather sealingperformance by means of drained andventilated rebates on a pressure equaliseddesign principle. The system has beendesigned with no visible gasket line to enhancethe overall appearance.

The window system has been exclusivelydesigned, developed and tested by KawneerUK using proven technology. Installationcontracts are carried out by fully trainedKawneer approved specialist contractors.

Based on the established Kawneer AA®601TEwindow system, the parallel opening designbenefits from the proven thermalperformance of the standard AA®601TEcasement, achieving U-values of 1.5 W/m2Kfor a CEN sized window with warm edgespacer, while offering exceptional levels ofnatural ventilation and air exchange.

Increased air flow around the full perimeter ofthe window facilitates highly efficient naturalventilation while greatly reducing draughts.Fresh air is drawn in via the bottom of thewindow while warm, stale air is expelled viathe top of the window creating full circulationof air within the room.

IntroductionThe Kawneer AA®602TE Pivot window is based on the tried and tested design principles of theKawneer AA®600TE series window and doorsystem. The pivot window is available inhorizontal or vertical applications which makesit a suitable window for most instances.

To help bring a futuristic appearance to the

£25 million development of one of the last

remaining sites at Manchester’s iconic Salford

Quays, Kawneer’s curtain walling, windows

and doors featured on the Millennium

Estates’ two mixed-use towers next to Erie

Basin at Dock 9.

The curtain walled rainscreen front of block A

of 10 storeys, which maintains a very

horizontal emphasis, projects over the

dockside walkway and cantilevers out akin to

a ship launching into water.

The 20 storeys of the predominately white

block B hover over a two-storey podium

structure that contains car parking for

residents and retail units fronting the

dockside walkway.

The two towers in total comprise more than

200 apartments including studios and one-to

three-bedroomed units as well as 6,000ft2 of

retail space.

Broadway Malyan Architects designed the

two concrete-framed residential towers to

contrast in nature and positioning so they

would have equal presence on the 0.46-

hectare site and as such, block A has been

cladded horizontally and block B vertically.

Block A’s apartments have been planned so

the living room always has a corner view

beyond the balcony towards the dock and

Lowry Centre. Each room type has a different

Kawneer window arrangement, all to a

500mm module.

IntroductionThe Kawneer GT70 Slimline RenovationWindow is an elegant aluminium fenestrationsolution designed specifically to replicate theappearance of steel windows. Suitable forinstallation in new build or refurbishmentprojects, the GT70 window combines theoptimum technical performance expected oftoday’s aluminium windows, with the finesightlines characteristic of original steelwindows. These slender sightlines areenhanced further by optional bevelleddesigned feature caps adding a uniquesculptured effect to the external surface ofthe building.

ConstructionFraming construction incorporates fill anddebridge thermal break with resin. Allframes have mechanically jointed andadhesive bonded corners. Installation canbe by the direct fix method or by twist infixing lugs.

GlazingInward opening windows are internallyglazed and outward opening windows areexternally glazed, with a maximum glassthickness of 54mm for fixed lights and vents(inside glazed) and 33mm (outside glazed).
