What do Windows do?

A window can have several functions. They can serve to let air, sound, and light

in. They also can be used as a design element in addition. There are many

different types of windows. There are a variety of windows which open in a

variety of ways, or not at all. Windows can brighten your house, allow ventilation

or exclude inclement weather, and even make the rooms in your house appear

larger!

Why do I need to clean my Windows?

You wouldn’t walk around wearing dirty clothes, or with a dirty face, or even

wearing dirty sunglasses—would you? Well, the same logic applies here. If your

windows are dirty, the purpose of even having windows is ultimately defeated.

Not only does it make your home or office look much less appealing, but it also

will cause people to think you, your home, and/or your office is dirty. This is not a

good first impression. When your windows are dirty, it prevents natural light from

shining through—which illuminates your home or office, makes it appear bigger,

and even puts you and others in a better mood! Leaving dirty windows

unattended leads to more difficult or even permanent streaks, residue, and

mineral deposits staining your home or office.

What about the Screens? Should I have them cleaned

regularly too?

Yes!! Screens collect residue, dirt, dust, and pollen—and if you have allergies,

this only makes it worse! The various things your screen collects only increases

the risk of germs and thus, increases the risk for illness. Your window screens are

there to keep out all the bugs, birds, pollen, dirt, and much more out of your

house, while still letting air flow through. If screens are caked with filth among

other things, not only is the quality of air flowing through affected, but so is the

quantity of air.

Can’t I just clean the windows and the screens myself?

You could, but cleaning the windows on your home or office can prove to be a

difficult and even dangerous job—especially if you don’t have much experience in

doing so. Many windows around your home or office may be quite hard to reach.

Each year people attempt to clean their own windows in order to save money.

However, they end up spending a lot more of their precious time and effort, in

addition to potential hospital bills due to unfortunate ladder accidents.

How often should I have my windows cleaned?

Well, that all depends. If the windows are of your work place, it is

recommended that you have them cleaned at least twice a month. Businesses

have much more traffic each and every day then a home does, as well as having

much more of a need to look clean for customers and clients. If the windows are

of your home, it is recommended that you have them cleaned at least twice a

year. The local weather conditions will also have an important say in how often

your windows should be cleaned. For example, if you live near the ocean, there’s

much more salt in the air, which can stick to your windows and corrode them.

This also applies to environments which receive a lot of snow in the winter time.

When it snows, salt is dispersed all over the roads to prevent slipping and sliding.

However, this raises the risk of that salt getting to your windows. And just think

about how often dirt, dust, and grime will build up on your windows if you live in

a very windy climate!

What times of the year should I get my windows cleaned?

This will also depend on the local weather conditions. However, most people

will get their windows cleaned once in the Spring, and once in the Fall. Cleaning of

the windows should never be done in the Winter or in wet weather. Sometimes,

even cleaning the windows on certain Spring days proves to be difficult because

of the massive amounts of pollen.
