    A GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL16TH FORK UNION INVITATIONAL ENJOYS PERFECT DAY

    Cooler temperatures and a lush green course provided thebackdrop for the 16th edition of the Fork Union Invitational, the near1200 entrants took it from there. Thirtyeight schools participatedthis year, the most to date. A major highlight for this edition was theparticipation of UVAs medical staff led by Dr. Robert Wilder. Theirhelp greatly increased the safety of the participants.

    FUMA was well represented across the board with awardwinners in three of the four divisions offered. Eighth grader ScottBoyd got it started with a 5th place performance in the ever growingMiddle School 2500 meter. Next up, the Lomong brothers cappedoff a productive summer with solid performances. Alex earned a sub16 minute performance to finish 4th. Big brother Peter overcame asore back to finish 25th. The day ended for FUMA with newcomerRobert Hutchenson earning an award in the J.V. 2mile.

    BLUE DEVILS TAKE TITLEFUMA GRABS 4 OF THE TOP 8

    The creation of a new event at Hardy Cross CountryCourse served as an ideal platform for FUMAs developingteam. FUMA reached out to its rural neighbors with a Thurs-day afternoon invitational.

    The Lomong brothers ran conservatively early but fin-ished strong with two All-time top 20 times on the course. ForPeter Lomong, the effort was a personal best. While the 1-2finish put FUMA in good position for the team title, junior DarvySoignet and eighth grader Scott Boyd slammed the door with6th and 8th place finishes. Hunter Doucettes finish gave FU-MA an 11 point win over Goochland in the seven team invita-tional. GO FUMA!

    FUMA VS. BLUE RIDGEAlex Lomong was an easy winner at HardyCross Country Course and helped the BlueDevils soundly defeat the Barons 18-41.Darvy Soignet was second and Scott Boyd4th.FUMA VS. SAINT CHRISTOPHERSPeter Lomong led the way for FUMA with a17:01 clocking on the Saints homecomingmeet. FUMA was just a day off of beatingBlue Ridge and had several runners takingthe SAT.
