First DayFor Ardent Faith

St. Vincent Ferrer, you were born of deeply religious mother; fromher you received the Holy Faith; you learned to love God and topray. At a young age, you were seen kneeling in the front of thestatue of Mary. Your soul was supernaturally carried towards thethings on High. Despite the high cost, you answered your voca-tion! Against many obstacles and contradictions, you had to fightand suffer to become the perfect priest which you were. But yourdeep spirit of faith supported you in all these battle. O Great Saintyou know the desire of my soul; I would like to serve God better;for him I have receined so many good things. For this, obtain forme more courage and especially the depth of faith. Many of mythoughts , words, and actions are useless for my sanctificationand for my salvation, because this supernatural spirit does not stirup my life. Help me to be better in the future.

Second DayFor complete Trust in God

St. Vincent Ferrer, what confidence the people had in your prayers!You were always surrounded by implroing souls, who appealed toyou as they would have appealed to Jesus himself during his earthlylife. And you, O good Saint, gave them hope by your words, whichwere full of love for God. You, who had always counted entirely onthe heart of God, obtain for me a deep filial trust in his Provi-dence.

Third DayFor a True Love of neighbor

St. Vincent Ferrer because of your love of your neighbor. You couldnot preach on the love of God without burning tears of love. Dur-ing your last years, it seemed as though you could not talk aboutanything else. Thus you sacrificed yourself to your neighbor byconsoling, absolving and sanctifying them to the limits of yourstrength. Your charity inspires me to greater loe of God, a lovewhich is shown more by acts than by words. Help me to love myneighbor generously as Christ loves them.

Fourth DayFor Horror of Sin

St. Vincent Ferrer, you were so adamant against sin, yet so sym-pathetic and so ready to welcome the sinner, I come to you todayas if you were still alive, as if I were kneeling at your feet and youcould hear me. Bend towards me, listen to the repentant confi-dence for the weaknesses and miserable deeds of mine. Priest ofthe Lord, inexhaustible Confessor, obtain for me the Horror of sin.You wanted us first to avoid the occasion of sin. I want to takeyour advice and make the resolution to break bad habits and toavoid the dangerous occasions of sin.

Sa bahin ni San Vicente Ferrer indisiya halin sa “engineer” o “builder.”Ang matahum nga kahulugan siningtitulo kay ginpasad niya liwat anglawas ni Kristo o ang kabilugan sangsimbahan katoliko nga sadto anaymay duha ang Santo Papa, ClementVII, Benedict XIII sa Avignon, Francekag si Urban VI sa Roma, Italia.

Ninth DayFor the Desire of Heaven

O St. Vincent Ferrer, during the time you were on earth, you usedto repeat in your dejected hours, “One will rest in the other life.” Itis done, you are in eternal peace, and eternal happiness. I desireto follow you one day. Until then, I hear you sayin to me: “Youshould work and fight as long as you are in the world.”

Teach me then to work for the salvation of my soul, to spread thegood news and good example and to do good towards those aroundme in order that I will receive the happiness of the Elect with you.Holy priest of St. Dominic, I have confidence in your intercession.Pray for me during this novena especially for (state your requesthere).


Doubting the veracity of God’s wordhas its own consequences seriousand devastating ones. Look whathappened to our first parents in theGarden of Eden. Created in the im-age and likeness of their CreatorAdam and Eve has everything theyneed at hand. In fact, they weregiven the gifts what theologianscalled “preternatural gifts” whichother creatures did not possess. Butwhen their faithfulness to their Cre-ator was tested they failed. Theyfailed because they doubted thetruth of God’s Word. The conse-quence of their doubt led to not onlyto their Fall but also of the wholeGod’s creation. The whole of cre-ation was tainted with the mire ofsin.

When God freed the Israelites fromtheir slavery in Egypt throughMoses they were set by God on theroad towards the Promised Land.However, when God placed theminto a test while they were in thedessert, they failed. The reason whythey failed was so simple - theydoubted the veracity of God’s Word.

Jesus, on the other hand, whentempted by Satan in the wildernessnot only once but thrice He did notsuccumb to the devil’s temptations.He emerged victorious three times.The reason is so simple He had hislife deeply rooted in the word of Godand in His determination to fulfillthe will of His Father. Jesus is aman like us in all things, save sin.Yet, he dared to be unlike the restof us – He was different in His rela-tionship with God.

Doing the will of God was the primemotivation of His earthly life. Heknew how to say NO when the will

of God demanded NO! He said NOto Satan’s insinuations without anyqualification or condition. How-ever, He says His big unwaveringYES to His Father’s will with lovingobedience that even this led to Hisdeath – death on the cross. He re-mained faithful to His Father inheaven. By rejecting the tempta-tions to become rich, famous andpowerful Savior Jesus dealt the firstblow to Satan’s power.

His rejection of Satan’s offers has re-versed the course of history. His un-conditional big NO to Satan and Hisunwavering YES to the Father’s willset an example to the whole man-kind. He empowered us human be-ings to make the right choice by Hisdeath on the cross and His Resur-rection from the dead.

In this behavior of Jesus, we aregiven an encouraging example ofhow to overcome Satan’s, as well, asthe world’s temptations. This spellsthe big difference in our life. If wefollow Jesus’ example, we can over-come temptations in our life. In thewilderness of human life, we too areput into test. Sin and its counterpart– the virtues, complacency and selfdenial, death and life are unceas-ingly placed in front of us. Whoseexample shall we follow? Is it the ex-ample of Adam and Eve? Is it theexample of Israel? Or it is the ex-ample shown to us by Jesus?

What is your choice? We are free tomake our choice. We are Christians.If we intend to be true to this name,we should have no uncertainty tomake His Word and His Will our in-spirations and guides. For sure, weare going to share in the victory ofJesus.

Sang nagligad nga February 17, 2011 angaton Diocese naghiwat sang seminarnatuhoy sa aton padayon ngapagpabakod sang ministeryo sang Par-ish Social Apostolate Ministry(PSAM) ukon ang Service Ministry.Amo ini ang nahauna nga bahin sa atonpagpadalom sining ministeryo bangodmay kasugpon pa ini sa palaabuton ngaMarso 17, 2011 para sa ikaduha ngabahin.

Ginhimo ining seminar para diri ngaministeryo bangod nakita nga kadam-andiri sa aton Diocese, wala pa gid masyadona plastar ining PSAM sa kada parokya.Pila lamang ka mga parokya nga naga-eksister ang ila PSAM. May ara man ibantuod pero ngalan kag tawo lang, perowala man naga-function. Amo ini konngaa ginhimo ini agod nga liwatmahatagan sing nagakaigo ngaintensyon sa aton tagsa ka parokya.

Ang BOSSAW amo ini ang “Basic Ori-entation Seminar on Social ApostolateWorks.” Diri ginatudluan kon ano angmaayo nga pamaagi sa aton pagmaniharsang PSAM sa aton tagsa ka parokyaagod nga makaalagad kita sangnagakaigo para sa aton mga utod nganagakinahanglan. Kay ang pag-alagadkag pagbulig may nagakaigo man ngapamaagi agod masabat naton ang kakinahanglanon sang aton mga kubos ngamga parokyano.

Handom sang PSAM nga makabulig kagmaka-alagad sang mga utod naton ngakubos suno sa kagustuhan sang atonmahal nga DIOS. Amo ini ang rason konngaa diri sa aton parokya, atonginahatagan sing nagakaigo nga suportaini agod mangin functional ini ngaministeryo. Migrationhas often resulted in the breakup of families. Separa-tion, even, if it is temporary, has given rise to unfavor-able situation. Various wounds, many of them still un-ascertained, threaten to irreparably rupture key bonds.National Migrants Sunday seeks to convey to thehearts and minds of all, in the spirit of intense prayers,the painful reality that migration can be injurious tothe family and to society and yet we cannot deny thatmigration is generally inevitable.
