L ooking back over your life, what do you wish you had not quit? Do you wish you had fi nished high

school or college? Do you wish you had stayed with that low level job that had great potential for advancement? Do you wish you had continued to work on your relationship? Do you wish you hadn’t given up on God? Whatever your answer is to these questions, God advises us not to live in the past. This means that there is hope for your future. Hallelujah! Occasionally, it pays to consider the high cost of quitting. Many people live with scars or lingering wounds from having quit on something or someone. It is easier to quit than to endure. It is easier to do what you want with your life than to kneel before God in prayer and ask Him to guide you. It is easier to quit following Jesus Christ than to go through the painful process of daily surrender. It is always easier to quit than to endure. Quitting is very expensive. A lot of us have paid dearly for giving up too soon. If our expectations aren’t met we have a strong tendency to quit. We quit jobs, education, relationships. We quit spiritual life prematurely and give up on God. Endurance is essential for facing life challenges headlong. Endurance can

be developed. We are blessed when we endure.

Don’t dread change, dread the pain of staying

the same

Many lives have turned up hopeless, because of the unwillingness and inability to endure. Too many times most of the things we fail to endure are only temporary. We lose lifetime rewards for refusing to stay discomfort for a while. People want refi nement, but scorn the process. However, it is the process that brings about refi nement. For us to bear much fruit that glorify God with our lives, we have to be pruned. No pruning, no fruit. We all want to do well, but not all of us are willing to go through the process of preparation. Preparation is for the future, without which we cannot possess it. The future belongs to those who are well prepared. That is why we send our children to schools in the hope that they could be masters of their own future and life. People who want change, prepare themselves for change.
