ABOUTWSA

Georgia's film industry is taking center stage in 2017. On Jan. 24, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal named 2017 the Year of Georgia Film. For the past five years, Georgia, namely Atlanta, has been the filming spot for highly successful films and television shows, scripted and unscripted. Rated the number three city for film and entertainment, a 30 percent tax credit and land to build upon, Atlanta is rapidly becoming a mecca for film and television. At the forefront of this great migration to Atlanta was Winsome Sinclair.

A woman of vision and many talents, Winsome Sinclair opened the Atlanta headquarters of WSA International with her partner, Donald Jarmond, in 2014.

Over three decades of combined experience in entertainment between them has enabled WSA to assist & advise actors, producers, and other creatives in developing & moving their projects forward as well as navigating the next steps in their careers.

WINSOMESINCLAIR

Winsome Sinclair is an Atlanta based casting director that has collaborated with such directors as Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, Oliver Stone, John Singleton and Lee Daniels, casting principals and/or extras for the films such as Amistad, Malcolm X, Waiting to Exhale, The Best Man, Inside Man, Too Fast Too Furious, Black Snake Moan, Cadillac Records, Sparkle, and Precious, among others. In the documentary realm, Sinclair has collaborated with Oscar-nominated director Sam Pollard on 3 occasions, "Slavery By Another Name” (2012), August Wilson’s "The Ground On Which I Stand” (2014) and currently "Maynard" (2017), for which Sinclair is also serving as co-producer.

In 2014, Sinclair cast the LIFETIME TV movie “Seasons of Love” produced by Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson, as well as the HBO film BESSIE starring and produced by academy award nominee Queen Latifah & directed by Dee Rees of the critically acclaimed PARIAH, which Sinclair contributed on as well.

In 2015, Sinclair cast principals and extras for the feature film "Barber Shop 3”, directed by Malcolm Lee, and executive produced/starring Ice Cube.

Her most recent television projects include Atlanta casting for the Fox series pilot,“STAR”. WSA also cast the fourth season of BET's "Being Mary Jane",

In 2016, Sinclair and her team completed the principal casting for the highly anticipated Tupac Shakur biopic, "All Eyez On Me”, directed by Benny Boom. The film hits theaters summer of 2017.With almost three decades of experience to her credit, this industry veteran sits on the board of directors of the African- American Women In Cinema Foundation. She is also a member of the New York Women In Film and Television, a member of the Television Academy and a proud new member of Casting Society of America ( CSA).

DONALDJARMOND

Starting his career in the music industry, Jarmond landed his first independent marketing contract in Atlanta with NO Limit Records as an Independent Marketing Rep. Furthering his marketing career, Jarmond provided marketing for InterScope Records, Black Ark Records, BMI, Deep End, Hidden Beach, and Universal Records. Jarmond then became the South East Regional Marketing Rep. for Red Distribution, an award-winning division of Sony Music Entertainment.

Applying the tools and resources that he had accumulated over the years, Jarmond Entertainment Music was born. Due to this noted success, Jarmond expanded his business clientele and serves as the co-owner of Old School, LLC. Within these entities Jarmond has managed, directed, and leads a team of 40-60 staff members and contractors.

Jarmond joined forces with Winsome Sinclair and Associates in 2014. In partnership with Winsome Sinclair, together, they launched WSA International, LLC, a full service casting, consulting and production company in the heart of downtown Atlanta.

Jarmond made his producing/executive producing debut with UNtitlED and is currently producing the thriller, ROSE HALL based on the Jamaican folklore of the Rose Hall Mansion. WSA is the collaborating with Oscar-nominated documentarian and editor Sam Pollard and Auburn Ave Films to co-produce MAYNARD THE MOVIE. The film is a documentary abut the life of the legendary mayor of Atlanta, Maynard Jackson Jr. In addition to this production, WSA is casting and producing a slate of projects for 2016-2018.

In 2015, WSA created ActorScope as a platform for working and aspiring actors to tune in to each week to learn and discuss opportunities within the entertainment industry. ActorScope focuses on how to maximize their potential as an artist as well as trending topics in film making. ActorScope is a 30 minute segment and broadcast l ive each Wednesday at 1PM via Facebook Live and the WSATV on YouTube. In Spring 2017, ActorScope will be launching a mini segment called IndieCorner. IndieCorner’s purpose is to give independent filmmakers a platform to broadcast their recent and upcoming projects. We are in the process of building a database of filmmakers and industry talent to feature on IndieCorner.

The motion picture industry is a multi-billion dollar business that generates large domestic profits and continues to provide one of the United States’ largest export products. The industry consists of major studios (i.e. Warner Bros., DreamWorks, SONY/Columbia, Universal, Fox and Paramount) and independents. The studio system tends to concentrate on formulaic, high concept, big budget movies while independents seek to tell more unique stories using limited budgets.

Independent films, by definition, are financed by any source other than a major studio. They can vary widely in budget, with some as high as $100 million, but they all benefit from smaller company structures that foster creativity and innovation. Unlike major studios, independent production companies are able to avoid substantial overhead costs by hiring talent and other production personnel on a project by project basis. As such, independent films have attracted growing audience interest and offer significant profit opportunities. Their cachet is such that many well known actors regularly seek to work in the independent sector as a way to enhance their artistic and creative credentials.

Lower budget independent films have solidified their commercial viability. The independent market as a whole has expanded dramatically, with its total domestic box office having increased 80% over the past fifteen years. “Indies” have also garnered an amazing rate of critical acclaim and prestige as ten of the fifteen films nominated for Best Picture over the last three Oscar seasons were independents. The motion picture business has proven to be an historically recession-proof industry. Possessing a low elasticity of demand, it remains relatively stable despite the fall in discretionary income that occurs during an economic downturn. This industry produces and sells products that consumers use regardless of income level and economic conditions. Dating back as far as the Great Depression of the 1930’s, the public turns to movies as a readily available and inexpensive form of entertainment and escapism despite challenging financial times.

Given 24 hours and wanted by authorities and criminals alike in a hair-brained scheme, a two bit con artist/car thief (WALTER “BOOGIE” KNIGHT), must race against time to obtain money owed a mid-level Mexican drug boss. Also to placate the extremely demanding and estranged psychotic mother of his biologically impossible children, the stoner promises to get his three kids the best birthday gift ever! Naturally he forgets and being the day before his kid’s birthday, of course no one has anything the kid wants. Finding himself in a world of trouble amid the action, he navigates the streets of Atlanta as the world’s most hilarious Uber driver to get behind the wheel.

Inspired by a lecture on urban legends in their folklore studies class, Kim, Andrew, Joy and Paul take a trip to the exotic island of Jamaica in the West Indies for spring break.
