What Happened in Loveland? On September 12th-13th, 2013 the Loveland area began to take on more water than it could handle from heavy, steady rains and run-off. The Big Thompson River swelled to over-top its banks in many areas along the Big Thompson Canyon, Larimer County's lands, and into the City of Loveland. This flooding caused many highways, roads, parks, natural areas and open spaces to close due to the high waters rising. By September 13th-14th, 2013, more effects were being felt by residents along with all of the closures taking place, and some parts of town were becoming impassable. The City of Loveland was split in two by the Big Thompson River.

The Loveland Reporter Herald Newspaper has published a special section with more details about the flood timeline, photos, interest-ing personal stories, and more online here:issuu.com/reporterherald/docs/front_range_flood

Parks & Recreation Flood PHOTO GALLERY The department has created a gallery of images related to parks, natural areas/open spaces, and recreation trail affected by the flood. You may view photos of flood areas and the damages here: www.cityofloveland.org/index.aspx?page=1876&recordid=24
