How do you choose your variety?

• Yield is important but it is not the only factor…

How do you choose your variety?

• Market – you may not have a choice for a premium contract

• Straw strength – how comfortable will you be in mid summer storms?

• What value do you put on disease resistance? • Septoria is the main concern due to reduced fungicide efficacy

• Don’t forget about mildew and rust. Controlling the controllable diseases costs money too…

• The diseases are “always working” on a way round varietal resistance, it can breakdown in one season, so walk your crops…

• Grain Quality –sprouting, kph,

• If you don’t have a choice, use the RL info to tailor your agronomy
