Winter Festivities in LondonWith its lights and decorations, London is a magical place at Christmas. However, it’s not just for the 25th December that the capital is lit up for winter.

During Halloween, prepare for revelers and outlandish costumes. Bonfire Night is a family affair as fireworks light up the city, while our American cousins’ wholesome celebration of Thanksgiving is a firm fixture on the calendar. Then it’s all about the lead-up to the main event, as the party season gets into full swing and the city streets are abuzz with communal ice rinks and winter markets.

The fun doesn’t stop on Boxing Day. Sparkling parties abound on New Year’s Eve; followed by the poetic sophistication of Burns Night; while Chinese New Year sees London’s Chinatown play host to an all-consuming parade and extravagant feasts.

London is a truly cosmopolitan city, and that multi-cultural vibe is celebrated throughout the turn of the year.

Let the festivities commence!Allow me to welcome you to one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Marylebone’s identity, with its creative streak and eclectic collection of independent businesses, gives rise to its famous ‘village’ feel. I find winter is the most convivial time of year, when the streets around the hotel are alive with a host of celebrations.

This season, we invite you to join us at The Marylebone for your own festivities, whether it be a special dinner at 108 Brasserie, or a more private celebration in our contemporary Marylebone Rooms, its chic spaces perfect for gatherings large and small; or perhaps you’d prefer a soirée with a few friends overlooking London from the sanctuary of one of our stunning Terrace Suites.

Whatever your reason for celebrating, from Thanksgiving to New Year and beyond, we invite you to discover The Marylebone and our eponymous neighbourhood this festive season.

Dine in StyleThe chic 108 Brasserie, secretly located at the back of the hotel looking out onto the cobbles of Marylebone Lane, sets the scene for a warm, inviting dining venue. Along with the intimate, mirrored 108 Bar and its red studded stools, you could be in a Parisian café. Combine 108 Bar with 108 Brasserie for a private lunch or dinner, where the service is relaxed yet intuitive, the menu classic yet refined.

108 Pantry delivers a more informal, café society vibe. Its bright, modern decor mixes vintage charm with a chic palette of contemporary colours played out in the red leather chairs and mustard sofas. This intrinsic warmth makes it an ideal venue for festive gatherings and private dinners.

The Marylebone RoomsThe recently launched event spaces at The Marylebone are some of the most awe-inspiring you’ll find in the heart of London. New indoor and outdoor spaces, filled with natural light, modern artwork and colourful furnishings, are miles away from the formal meeting rooms more associated with city hotels.

This winter, why not host your very own festive gathering in one of the private event spaces of the beautiful Marylebone Rooms. The Long Room features sofas and banquettes in accent colours; perfect for a chic lunch or dinner for up to 40 guests. The Blue Room offers a vibrant aesthetic, with bright sofas and muted wooden floors, this room is ideal for lunch or dinner parties for up to 46 guests. Meanwhile the dark oak panelling, soft green accents and fireplace of The Library provides an intimate environment for up to 36 guests seated.

The unique space of The Courtyard offers a rare fusion of tranquillity and vibrancy in the middle of the city. A 73 sqm terrace surrounded by a garden wall, with a retractable roof and open fireplace, this is the epitome of the ‘outside-inside’ fashion. Combined with The Blue Room and The Library, the space can accommodate up to 150 guests standing or 82 guests seated.

Our latest space to open on the ground floor will be able to host larger receptions of up to 250 quests standing, perfect for larger festive celebrations.

“Everyone who attended the party said it was by far the best event we have held and couldn’t speak highly enough of the venue, the staff, the food and drinks”.

ThanksgivingAt The Marylebone we like to celebrate Thanksgiving in style. Start the evening in 108 Bar with a special Maker’s Mark bourbon cocktail followed by our Thanksgiving menu in 108 Brasserie or 108 Pantry, which includes traditional family favourites, with added colour. There’s roast turkey (with all the stateside trimmings), as well as grilled salmon, crab cakes, New England clam chowder and homemade cornbread. Meanwhile, desserts include New York cheesecake with blueberry compote, pumpkin or pecan pie complete with cookie dough ice cream.

Festive Afternoon TeaOur December afternoon tea at 108 Pantry combines the classic British version with a festive twist. Cue black truffle sausage rolls, turkey sandwiches with stuffing and cranberry sauce, and smoked salmon rillettes and Guinness brown bread. All topped off with to-die-for cakes and pastries from our colourful pantry counter, including home-made buttermilk scones. Gluten-free options are available – as is a constant flow of Champagne, of course.

Christmas CelebrationsFrom rousing parties for friends or colleagues to intimate Christmas Day dinners for the whole family, our festive menus are a celebration of fresh, seasonal produce.

Our indulgent three-course feast menu is perfect for festive gatherings in the lead up to Christmas. Traditional dishes are at the fore, yet there’s plenty of alternatives to turkey, such as beer-braised beef or chestnut gnocchi with all the trimmings.

Meanwhile, for merry drinks receptions, a selection of festive canapés and bowl food will keep guests well fueled.

Our five-course menu on Christmas Day is a modern rendering of classic British fare – expect Caldecott Farm free range bronze turkey, or for those looking to venture beyond the traditional, there’s Balmoral Estate venison while desserts span banana-and-rum tart tatin, gingerbread waffle and traditional plum pudding with plenty of brandy custard.

It’s New Year’s Eve!This new year, we celebrate classic British ingredients in 108 Brasserie and 108 Pantry; all locally sourced and delivered with a flourish. Our special New Year’s Eve dinner offers a menu of Dorset crab, Scotch beef, or pan-roasted Cornish John Dory, whilst the indulgence factor is dialled up a notch for dessert with pineapple tarte tatin; baked Alaska or bitter chocolate tart. Dishes selected, now you just need to select your drinks from our wide range of wines and bubbles…

A Poetic Burns NightJanuary’s rousing celebration of the legendary Scottish poet is always a hearty affair at 108 Bar, 108 Brasserie and 108 Pantry. On the 25th of January, after toasting the great man with a specially created highland Negroni, allow us to serve traditional Scottish soup - Cullen Skink, followed by a classic main course of haggis finished with that classic Scottish delicacy, deep-fried Mars bar.
