YOUTH SWIM LESSONSLearn to Swim at the Y. For many, the YMCA was where one learned how to swim as a child and for good reason. Since 1885, the Y has been a pioneer in swimming education. Literally millions of people have learned to swim through the YMCA's perfected program. In Y Swim Lessons participants learn and practice new swimming skills and feel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they can enjoy the rest of their lives.

YBA YOUTH BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION We are still taking late registration for our basketball leagues. The program is run by Gil Walker and is team of coaches through a structured organized and well disciplined program.

DIVISION I 14-17 yrs | Practice 1 week day & games Saturdays 2-4PM

ACHIEVERS PROGRAMS The achievers program is one of our youth development programs that encourages interaction between youth and adult role models and the exploration of higher education and career options. Founded in 1971 at the Harlem NY Branch YMVA, this nationwide program fosters the academic, personal and career development of African-American and Latino youth in the 7th to 12th grades.

The Achievers program has six goals and objectives: • To expose youth to diverse career options

• To help youth develop a positive sense of self and build character

• To raise the academic standard of youth

• To provide youth with role models whose success and knowledge will inspire them to set and reach their goals

• To create channels for continuing community involvement by business and industry

• To recognize and promote excellence

The Achievers are in session from October through June. For more information please contact LaDawn Norwood at [email protected] or 773.326.2559

The Y offers middle school youth and teens different programs to help youth focus on enhancing their athletic and sportsmanship skills; develop healthy habits; build self-confidence and sense of belonging; create an awareness and sense of responsibility for their community; and improve academic performance. By providing young adults the opportunity learn and grow, we are creating a healthier and stronger community.

MIDDLE SCHOOL & TEENS PROGRAMS

Teen Swim Club Learn to swim with your peers and teens the same age you. No swim experience is needed as the teens work on basic water skills and developing new ones with our trained swim instructors in a safe and friendly environment.

THE Y. SO MUCH MORE™ At the Y we are more than a gym. We are a cause dedicated to building strong children, families and communities—inside and out. This includes making our programs available to all regardless of need—because at the Y, everyone belongs. You can help us in the cause. Change a life by making a gift to the YMCA. Because membership dues and program fees support our daily operations, your gift will go directly to serving children and families in need.

The impact of your gift will be felt when:• A kindergartner starts school ready to learn because

he attended the Y’s early learning center.• Kids have a safe, nurturing environment to

go to after school and in the summer.• A parent spends quality time with their child while playing basketball.• A teen receives tutoring and mentoring to help them

succeed in school and prepare for college.• A child loses weight–and enjoys it–because at the Y, exercise is play.

Make a Gift. Change a Life. Make your gift today at donate.ymcachicago.org.
