After the first approval of 5G standards by 3GPP in last December, the realization of 5G is being accelerated. Following the attempts of the past two years, “5G Tokyo Bay Summit® 2018” will be held in WTP 2018 again as a special event to introduce the 5th Generation Mobile Communications System (5G). Supported by NTT DOCOMO, INC., a special huge pavilion and seminar will be set up and latest 5G initiatives by major mobileoperators and manufacturers in the world will be shown. Expected use cases with new services and applications on 5G, that are expected to be realized in 2020, will also be presented in various demonstrations and seminars. There will be many exhibits only shown in this WTP 2018.
Wireless environment in factories are changing momentarily as IoT gets popularized and various wireless systems are installed in manufacturing site increasingly. Flexible Factory Project (FFPJ) is a collaborative initiative lifting the boundaries among business fields with an aim to offer safe and secure wireless communications in factories where the expert of wireless communications is rarely assigned. Moreover, Flexible Factory Partners Alliance (FFPA) was established for returning the results from FFPJ’s research into the manufacturing site and for promoting the popularization of them. In WTP 2018, the latest outcomes of FFPJ and FFPA will be presented through exhibition and seminars.
