THE PRINCIPLES OF THE WHITE EAGLE LODGE

The White Eagle Lodge Teaches:That God, the Eternal Spirit, is both Father and Mother. That the Son - the Cosmic Christ - is also the light which shines in the human heart. By reason of this Divine Son-ship, all are brothers and sisters in spirit, a brotherhood which embraces all life, visible and invisible, including the angelic kingdom. The expression of these principles in daily life, through service. The awareness of the invisible world, which bridges sep-aration and death and reveals the eternal unity of life. That life is governed by Five Cosmic Laws: Reincarna-tion, Cause and Effect, Opportunity, Correspondences, Compensation (Equilibrium & Balance)The ultimate goal of mankind is that the inner light should become so strong and radiant that even the cells of the physical body are transmuted into finer substances which can overcome mortality. This is known as the Christing of Man, or in the words of the Ancient Brotherhood, the blooming of the Rose upon the Cross of Matter.

MISSION STATEMENT“The White Eagle Lodge embraces in its teaching many a school of thought; it would follow and advocate all paths which lead to Truth. Thus the White Eagle Lodge holds to no creed save unity with all, no other aim save Brotherhood. The name is designed not for the enhancement of any one individual, incarnate or discarnate, but as representative of a school or aspect of thought which might be symbolized by the White Eagle – the bird of vision, of soaring wings and sunlit skies. In this connection it may be well to recall that the symbol of an eagle has always represented the mystical aspect of Christianity as embodied in the Gospel of St. John.

If it be loyal to itself, the Lodge should seek to be a mystical Church of the Spirit, its mission to send forth such truth as has been entrusted to it; to hold nothing to itself, but ever seek to give; to place service before numbers, power, or popularity in a world where service is desperately needed. Such a Church is fulfilling itself if some who are lonely can find in it companionship and affection; if some who have lost faith can find a stable resting place again; and the sick in mind or body can gain from its healing, the health of soul and body they lack . . .”

WHITE EAGLE LODGE INVOCATION

May the Light of Christ, shining in my heart, stand guard over my thoughts and guide

my speech and actions into ways of service.May the Light of Christ shine from my heart

to heal the sick in mind and body;to comfort the bereaved; to sustain the weary.

May the Light of Christ illumine my understandingand the understanding of all, bringing true vision

and awareness of the eternal life, and of the Christ within all.

Amen.

MEDITATIONThe Service Of Love

The one aspiration of your heart is that you may serve humanity. This you cannot fail to do if you send forth love at every moment in life. Love all the blessings of life that are yours: live to love, love to live, thinking not of self, only of the greater Self, which is universal brotherhood; and understanding the mysteries of the spirit will bring love without limitations.

Visualize the still, white flame; hold it very still before you, breathe gently and quietly. Let no breath or thought give movement to the flame. See that flame in the center of the Star, or Sun. Know that this little flame is the God in you, your spirit, a part of the great Sun. Let the brightness of the flame draw you into the heart of the Sun. The only reality is God. You are in the heart of God.

Light On

the Path by Jane Sorbi

Our dear family, this comes with much love to you all. Since the very beginnings of this Lodge there has always been the call for respect, reverence and harmony between all the kingdoms of life.

There is only one law which governs the Universe and that is the law of love. It is beautifully expressed by our teacher: “... the love vibration holds all things in place.”

In this age which is now slowly unfolding, the very con-sciousness of humanity is gradually being raised towards universal brotherhood. The ‘earthing’ of the quality of brotherhood depends upon you and me. Wise Service is simply the expression of that love. A smile is a service. A positive attitude and demeanour expresses a most lovely light. Service offered through the simple law of love even-tually will become the very breath of life itself; a rhythmic giving and receiving.

We are asked to do our part in service to humanity through our way of living. Through the way we treat each other and the animals ... and every part of this garden of the earth in which we are privileged to live. We are free to make personal compassionate choices. When we strive to live by this divine law of love we may draw into the soul a reservoir of thankfulness for whatever aspect of service we are called to give.

Any sort of service where we are simply kind, is invalu-able. Anytime we think of someone else’s wellbeing, as our own, we build a quality of great beauty into the soul. We do not need to think about how or from what position we may give service; all service is equally good – whether we are cleaning the sink or giving healing; all wise service draws from the heart a quality which is love. The manner and motive through which we live and serve is far more important than the service itself.

What is ‘wise service’? It is service given with feel-ing - but without emotional attachment. Some would say without all the drama! The angelic stream serves human-ity with deep dispassionate love. Love without emotion. We can feel and love and serve every part of creation very peacefully without being pulled off course by emotional sensation. The best and most beautiful wise service is giv-en through the quiet of the heart. Thank you for yours.

Jane

(Mother for the White Eagle Work in the Americas)

Wisdom from White EagleWhite Eagle’s answer to a question concerning ser-

vice: “ …in order to serve I need certain teaching and help. Why does it not come to me?”

You may be unaware that you are already serving mankind but perhaps not in some spectacular way. So as long as a soul is expressing God in thought, word and action in a human and happy way, he or she is serv-ing God and humankind, even if unconscious of doing it. My child, when you are ready, the way will open for you. Wait in trustfulness in the divine love; be sure that your karma and dharma will bring, at the right time, the opportunity that you have earned, an expansion of con-sciousness for which you long. This is not to say you do not need to make an effort. Life is all effort; in nature ef-fort brings growth and expansion; therefore there must be a quiet working all the time, a constant aspiration….

You long to become aware of a life which is free, which is holy, happy, healthy and joyous,, in which you can render service and see the Land of Light. We give you pointers… First, tranquility of spirit. Let nothing disturb you… When you allow things to disturb you, all the fine threads of color and light attached to your soul from the Source of your life become tangled and jangled – in truth you cross the wires. Then you wonder why things are so difficult. Don’t cross the wires. Keep your line of contact clear. Be tranquil and serene. A Master is never perturbed.

It is easy to be stirred and emotionally upset by con-tact with inharmonious conditions, but as the Christ Light within grows stronger it teaches the neophyte to control passion and emotion, to keep it stilled and in its right place, so that emotion can be used for spiritual service but is not allowed to storm through the soul up-setting and shattering it...

There are many forms of service in your world but true service is the service of the spirit. Only when the power of love is behind the service of man to man is it true service to life. “Behold I make all things new.” The divine life within you, the spirit, the light, the love of God is the “I” ... and the “I” becomes the “we” when all are blended in perfect love and brotherhood. The greatest service that can be given to any soul on earth or any soul held in the spheres of desire is to help that soul to find the peace of the Great White Spirit.

ANIMAL HEALING

by Nancy Dorsey

Our much loved pets return our care with love and companionship, plus other little gifts. Can a gift of love also be a service? Yes! Animal healing is a lov-ing service achieved by tuning in to the Christ Love—a reward itself. Love and healing thrive together, or not at all.

My heartfelt love and thanks, along with those of the pet parents go out to all our dedicated healers, ani-mal or people, for their loving and consistent efforts spent for a wonderful service.

“Beephop is such a dear gentle old donkey, and if he could speak he would say “thank you very much” to the healers!!”

“I am truly amazed that Merlin is alive and thriv-ing. There has been divine intervention and I am so so grateful to the healers for their part in his recovery. I will have him 4 years in August and feeling very grateful and lucky to have him this long.”

“Bentley is still okay and seems happy and isn’t in any pain that I can see. He is such a sweet boy and I

love him so. Thank you again for your kind and lov-ing thoughts and prayers.”

“Casey was the most special dog I ever had and he leaves a big, big gap in our lives. As you may remem-ber he had been ‘given up’ several times by the vets in the past couple of years, yet he stayed with us for another two years, enjoying his life. I am convinced this was due to all the healing you sent him. Thank you all so very, very much.”

“Gizmo has been my “baby” for many years and she is very close to me. I so appreciate knowing that my animal companions are getting the benefit of love, compassion and healing from all of you.”

“Sally actually gets up on my mom’s lap regularly now, pushing out Lucy, for lots of fussing. She still won’t accept others but I believe it is coming slowly. Please thank the healers and tell them that what has been accomplished so far with their help is a true mir-acle. It is amazing what love can do.”

“Radley had a good report from vet! She still misses her Dad so much as do I. But she is playing with her toys and smiling again! Radley (and Jesus/Father/Holy Spirit of course) is MY healing. I do not know how I would have coped with my husband’s sudden death without her. Radley IS better. Praise God and bless you all!”

ing. The family brought Duchess to a sanctuary, where she was placed with a pack. Unfortunately, because she had been raised by people, Duchess didn’t know all of the proper ways to behave around other wolves, and her new pack members severely attacked her, resulting in her eventual removal.

She arrived at Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary with her opinionated rebel self completely intact. She is quite selective in her “inner circle,” and has a special preference for being doted on by her fa-vorite human males. Duchess is quite vocal about her likes and dislikes. She also has an excellent memory and remembers who has been “naughty” or “nice” to her. We definitely respect her space and keep our eyes on her!

Healing from the Heart Wisdom from White EagleWe want to impress on you the great importance of

preparing yourselves as channels for the beauty of the light to spread over the whole earth. People are needed by the earth; the planet needs you, as an indi-vidual. However small or insignificant you may feel, the time has now come for you to work for the purifi-cation of the earth plane. What all the world needs is light, love, goodwill and you, as a human being, can be a channel for this.

There is so much confusion on your earth now be-tween countries and the peoples of the world. We would have you hold the picture of peace and a per-fect life of harmony, brotherhood, goodwill; a life of co-operation, not of selfishness. All your work can be summed up in one phrase: “to overcome egotism and selfishness.”

Remember that you are builders. Your love and your positive thought are a creative power for good, for beauty, for truth, in your body, in your life, and in the world. And so we ask you to create in your mind the image of a perfect world, a perfect land. The way for human beings to restore harmony and brother-hood, is to hold humanity and the earth in a perfect thought, a thought of harmony, beauty, brotherly love and wholeness or healthiness. The power of thought is a power of creation and we are endeavoring to teach you the creative power of thought, the power of good thought or God thought. The whole of creation is held in God’s thought of the infinite Spirit.

It comes down to this, that every single person has immense opportunity to send forth the thought of God. Just think of God and give God the opportunity to work through the physical life; this applies to all aspects of your life on earth. If the light is generated and sent forth, you are acting with all the power that God has given you to assist your earth companions to respond to and absorb the Light which is being sent to them. Good thought, God thought, can raise the whole of life of humanity.

byDenise Badmington

We would like to share with you how, through the loving efforts and Wise Service of our healers, love and light has made a difference in the lives of some of our family and friends. One of our family had been having some challenges with their son and, after placing him on the noon healing lists, wrote: “Please tell them it is working. I had, with my son and his Doctor, the most beautiful visit today with someone who directs a special program at the University for young adults. She men-tioned that all of her clients who have had similar ex-periences have all gone back to school. She was clear, compassionate and encouraging. He began a completely different medication (with his father’s full blessing) and will return on Wednesday. I am weeping big fat tears of gratitude and hopefulness at the moment.”

Our healer who submitted the request on behalf of the family also shared with us: “I know this great love is for real, but today, even I am crying with gratitude. To the whole team: Thank you for your loving service.”

A healer attending the Healer’s Toolbox Retreat said, “Even when there are challenges all around me, in the simple act of service, of focusing on caring for others, of giving love and kindness to each one touched, to serv-ing the needs of others, I am happy. Even in the midst of caregiving for a parent…visiting a loved one in the hospital there can be a gentle, quiet kind of happiness.”

Another one of our White Eagle healers shared a per-sonal story with us. “I could not be more grateful for the many prayers said for my husband by our wonderful friends at the White Eagle Lodge. My husband took a trip across the country recently, on a venture I thought was dangerous and unwise, for many reasons. He looked at the situation totally differently, and went ahead with the journey. While he was away, I could sense all the great love, support and most of all, protection, surround-ing him and guiding him as a result of the many prayers being said for him. His trip went more smoothly than I could have ever expected and he was brought home safely, with no problems at all. My enduring, deepest heartfelt appreciation and thanks for all who prayed so sincerely and lovingly for him. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and cannot thank you all enough.”

With love and blessings, Denise

WISE SERVICEAs I sit at the computer asking for the wisdom, or at least

the wit, to write this article, my first thought is to turn to White Eagle, who says, “We know that the one wish and aspiration of your hearts is to serve humanity. This you cannot fail to do if you send forth love….Love life, love all the blessings which are yours. Live to love, love to live, thinking not of self, thinking only of the Great Self, which is universal brotherhood.” One of those wonderful sayings which are so clear and simple, and yet impossibly hard to put into practice consistently and cheerfully. Fortunately White Eagle tells us over and over again that we need to be as kind and tolerant towards ourselves in our perceived failures as we aspire to be towards our brothers and en-courages us just to keep on doing our best and tells us that all is well, ultimately.

In my years of work as a clinical social worker one of the things I learnt, and which led me to White Eagle, was that what had been missing in my professional training for the job was recognition of Spirit as central to humanity. It did become clear early on that what the people I was seeing needed was loving attention rather than advice or instruc-tions, like all of the rest of us, and that listening to people’s problems brought my own unresolved pains and failures vividly to the surface. As social workers we were taught to recognize this and to put our stuff aside to deal with later, when the working sessions were over. I have wished that I could have met White Eagle earlier, as his gentle teach-ing would have helped me a lot. Learning to see my own shortcomings clearly and honestly is something I’m still learning. I am still a bit shaken by Jesus’ words in Mat-thew 7, 3-5, where He talks about the need to pay attention to the beam in our own eye before being able to see clearly the mote in someone else’s.

Jesus is talking as well of course about our judgment of others and how that can interfere with our efforts to be kind and tolerant and loving. It is an ongoing effort that is required to notice and let go of all the multitudinous judg-ments that arise as I go about my daily routines, and instead exercise discrimination in choosing what to pay attention to in order to follow most closely the dictates of my heart.

There are so very many things happening personally, locally, nationally, globally, possibly cosmically, that so obviously need our loving attention that it can be over-whelming when our hearts are open. There are times when I realize that before I can open my heart fully to some di-saster suddenly presented by the radio or TV I need to open my heart to myself, to fill myself with light, and feel that strong, steady flow, before I can channel it elsewhere with all my heart. It is as if the shock of a great need out there for love causes my heart to contract for a moment some-times, and it is I who need the love.

By Margaret Rees, The Star Centre for Canada

Thoughts from Austin

The motto of our Lodge is ‘I Serve’, thus we each have a responsibility to serve; we are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. White Eagle tells us we need not go looking for service because it is here and now, not in some distant place or time but waiting in our hearts, waiting for us to be-come willing channels for God’s Light, the infi-nite power of the universe, which all may learn to project from our hearts to persons or areas of need in our world.

Wise service then is to let our Light shine, to be compassionate, helpful and sharing with love in our hearts the gifts that we have received so abundantly.

Each of us comes to earth with different tal-ents and a particular mission to fulfill on our jour-ney; and we must find our own ways of serving, that none can do the work of another. First we must acquire a measure of humility, rely on our intuition with discernment, since it is not wise to interfere with another’s karmic lesson, force an issue, be ego driven or say that our way is right. Wise service then is giving of ourselves as best we know how, letting love be our guide as we project the Christ Light in our hearts to those in need.

The service may take many forms, material or spiritual, it may be any act of love or a prayer for a person one may never meet; it may be a gift of one’s skills, time or money. The motivation must be in the intent of the giver, to be willing to share with gratitude the loving gifts waiting in our hearts.

At times we may feel inadequate but each of us has much to contribute and we should remember that we are only channels for the Light, that we work with a vast company of angels and guides as our journey unfolds. Also, it does not matter what form our service takes, since it is comforting to know that our Elder Brethren in spirit regard all acts of love and service to the Light to be of equal value.

White Eagle says; “There is nothing more important than to keep the Christ Light burning within.”

Culinary Creations by Dave(all published dishes are served at the Center)A COOL SUMMER SALUTE

TO OUR NEW MEMBERS!Mary Lynn Milne, Sue Stowers, Lissie Johns, Leas and Nancy Saraceno, Janice Gumbley, William Dalzell, Linda Kaye Salsberg, William and Joy Stoney, Dawn Marie Dancey, Bea Reber, Ella M. Waymer, Lydia Pilkington, Judith Sherbenou, David and Gail Mallin, Rebecca Deano, Yolanda M. Biscardi, Tamara L. Baca, Bud Simmons, Renee Wade

Spinach Pie with Feta - Spanakopita!Ingredients:2.5 lbs spinach, chopped½ cup olive oil4 large onions, diced2 bunches green onions, diced (including 4 inches green)½ cup fresh dill, chopped (substitute 3 tbsp. dried)Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste¼ tsp ground nutmeg½ cup parsley, chopped½ lb feta cheese, crumbled4 eggs, lightly beaten½ lb ricotta or cottage cheese¼ cup butter, melted¼ cup olive oil1 lb phyllo pastry sheets.

Preparation:▪ Wash and drain the chopped spinach very well. If using fro-zen, thaw completely and squeeze out excess water. Spinach should be dry.▪ Heat the olive oil in a deep sauté pan or large Dutch oven. Saute the onions and green onions until tender. ▪ Add the spinach, parsley and dill and cook for 5-10 minutes until spinach is wilted and heated through. Add the nutmeg and season with salt and pepper.▪ If using frozen spinach cook until excess moisture evapo-rates. Spinach mixture should be on the dry side.▪ Remove from heat and set aside the spinach to cool.▪ In a large mixing bowl, combine the feta, eggs and ricotta(cottage) cheese. Add the cooled spinach and mix until combined.▪ Combine the melted butter with the olive oil in a bowl. Us-ing a pastry brush, lightly grease two 9 x 12 pans. ▪ Carefully remove the Phyllo roll from the plastic sleeve. Most packages come in 12 x 18 inch sheets when opened fully. Using scissors or a sharp knife cut the sheets in half to make two stacks of 9 x 12 inch sheets. To prevent drying, cover one stack with wax paper and a damp paper towel while working with the other.▪ Prepare the Pita: Layer about 10 sheets on the bottom of the pan making sure to brush each sheet with the butter/olive oil mixture. Add half the spinach mixture in an even layer and press with a spatula to flatten.▪ Layer another 10 sheets on top of the spinach mixture mak-ing sure to brush well with butter/olive oil mixture. Repeat the process with the second pan.▪ Before baking, score the top layer of phyllo (making sure not to puncture the filling layer) to enable easier cutting of pieces later. I place the pan in the freezer to harden the top layers and then use a serrated knife.▪ Bake in a preheated 350° oven until the pita turns a deep golden brown. If the pita is frozen when you put it in the oven, cook approximately 45 minutes. If fresh, cook approxi-mately 20 – 25 minutes. Bon appétit!

“Seek to learn the lesson of discernment; and re-member, if your heart’s desire is withheld from you for a time, it is for a wise purpose; it is not merely to frustrate you, it is to help you in your soul develop-ment. Go forward quietly, and when you least ex-pect it, the light will burst upon your pathway and your vision will become clearer.” White Eagle

“The consciousness of humanity is gradu-ally being raised to a plane of universal broth-

erhood, the plane whereon each one of you will know that you cannot say a word of unkindness against your brother without hurting yourself. You cannot act cruelly without retaliation to your-self. Humanity will realize that all creation is one vast brotherhood of spirit, one atom inseparable from another. In this great family all are held in the love and the power of the divine spirit.”

We wait in the stillness of the spirit to receive the spiritual outpouring from the Centers of Love,

Wisdom and Power. We are united, recognizing that our neighbor, what-

ever his or her path of approach, desires to find God and to serve. In this we include the humbler brethren of the animal and nature kingdoms - all living things. We raise our hearts to those who have passed on recognizing the service which they also give to humanity.

There are those who are seeking a channel through which they can serve the great Plan of Evolution. If we consider Brotherhood, we must recognize the Brother-hood of Men and of Angels, since as men and women aspire to the higher realms and open the spiritual centers within their hearts, and in the brain, they will be used increasingly in service, becoming a channel through which the Wiser Powers, so gentle, and yet so perfect in method, will make contact...

This is no new truth. Throughout the ages the Broth-ers of the White Light have appeared, in differing forms, clothed in different personalities, to draw aside the veil; to reveal to the waiting heart and the humble searcher the secret ways of God, the universal powers which can be tapped only by those who have opened the secret chamber of the heart - the Temple, the Holy of Holies. This present Age brings increased facilities, greater op-portunities to discriminate between the true and false; and only through such diligent and humble search will men and women find that which they seek.

All suffering today originates from a divine Law broken by men and women in their search for self-ex-pression, although you may not find this statement ac-ceptable; but we discriminate between self-expression, and selfless God or Christ expression. We agree that in the process of Evolution mankind has concentrated upon self as he or she journeys upward. But the self will in turn give place to the God-influence which has three main modes of expression - power, wisdom and love; and the power aspect is that which has and will force men and women forward and onward, to soul-growth instead of self-gain. At present this growth of love of power so often betrays itself, overgrowing, overpow-ering and choking the flowers of the soul with weeds. ‘Evil’ results from misuse of power, but proves neces-sary at times, but after a certain stage of evolution there

awakens another aspect in man to transmute power that is abused - the Love, the Wisdom-aspect . . . the Love-aspect being the Christ...

Then what are the ways of Service to relieve suf-fering, to help the younger souls towards harmony and happiness, towards Christ, the ultimate? The path is very difficult to find; and being found, very difficult to walk steadfastly, because there is so much that fogs the vision. The only way to maintain foothold and to prog-ress is by following, not this or that sensation, interest or creed; but by entering the chamber within, by pray-ing with all one’s strength to the Wisdom of God. When light comes, it will not be due to intellect alone, but to that which urges man to love all creatures.

How are we in coping with the entanglements of mind and body to find this inner light? How can one be sure that one has found truth? One thing is essen-tial - Purity. What is meant by purity of life? Asceti-cism? - a withdrawal from contact with the world? Not so; for we have reached the next spiral of evolution, and the aspirant to-day is not concerned with monastic or ascetic life, but rather called to mix with humanity, min-gling with and bringing through into the minds of those he meets the light of Ages. This same light must burn brightly in the person, so that its influence may bring healing.

Purity of the vehicles of the spirit is a necessity if you would serve. We do not advise drastic changes in the life-habits, but consider well these words that follow.

The brotherhood of man with the animal kingdom! Those who love creatures given life by God find cruelty impossible, cannot kill, or indeed shed such innocent blood except in cases of sheer necessity. Then indeed the animals serve in the only way they can serve, by giv-ing up life itself. Take thought - with so many healthy and pure foods as an alternative, is it still necessary to kill and eat your brother?

One way of service is to always express love to-wards the animal kingdom, not aggressively but gen-tly, by thought and by example. It is not enough to say “I cannot bear to witness cruelty!” Set about do-ing your part, influenced from within, to contribute forbearance, kindness, love that will replace cruelty. Refuse to accept with complacence the habits and customs by which mankind exploits the weak and helpless.

Look out upon world... Can you endorse or par-ticipate in the antagonism too common between those of differing races... the white, the brown or red skin? You cannot judge – instead, spontaneously love and accept from your heart your brother, and possibly your teacher . . . for if he or she is not your teacher,

then yours is the obligation to help him or her upwards towards the light.

We have referred to the purification of the subtler bodies or vehicles of which the spirit makes use. Purity does not result only from change of diet, nor is this the only method. It is more important still to aspire continually in thought, to refuse to look critically or despairingly upon individuals or a suffering world; to always know that God reigns omnipotent, His laws ab-solute, His love infinite; and that all things must work together for good for those who love God.

Our thoughts are powerful instruments for good or evil. Daily as thoughts go forth, vibrating light and love, they construct; they bring closer contact with beings on the higher planes. Purer thoughts will attract the pure; and nobler, stronger helpers will companion you. So aspire to purity of thought and purity of body - the latter resulting from the purer food which will be your choice. Continual ablutions should become a daily habit, since the body must be kept free from all contamination, for if unclean, neglect-ed or over-driven, it becomes useless for the work of the Elder Brethren. It is wise, if you would serve humanity, to live harmoniously, moderately purely. If we ask too much, then aspire to overcome gradually the lower in-stincts, so that in time you attain these great ends.

A closing thought on the power to heal: In this New Age, men and women will recognize and utilize certain color healing rays, which work upon the etheric body, and can be concentrated upon the centers of power. Pu-rity of the subtler and physical bodies of the healer is essential for the reception of these rays.

Only through certain channels can the rays oper-ate. The Master Jesus demonstrated these powers, and His works were called “miracles” because the method employed was unknown to the majority. Jesus insisted always upon God being the One Who “doeth the work . . . Not I, but my Father” - stressing the necessity for the complete subjection of the self ... May it be your constant aspiration... to recognize increasingly the wisdom, the power and the love of the Universal Life-force, ever waiting to use and make of you the perfect instrument ... even like the Masters, whom you mistakenly sometimes tend to worship, forgetting they also are but instruments and of themselves are nothing.

The great White Light of God, shining behind and through all is the only Reality. All else is illusion. Serve your brother man and woman by calling forth the tiny light implanted within his breast; do what you can to re-lieve the sufferings of the oppressed everywhere; work for the obliteration of cruelty to all animals. Live your-self a pure and simple and humble life, judging no man, but loving all.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERSQ. Should one destroy pests?A. If it is necessary, at least choose a way that is

not cruel. So called pests often have their use. Certain troublesome insects, in so far as they are scavengers, assist in the maintenance of cleanliness. Man should be protected, and pests must be kept in their place; but if it should prove necessary to destroy, do so with love. There are two methods - angrily and cruelly, or with compassion and the right thought, without causing needless suffering.

Q. Does insistence on a meat-free diet cause antago-nism and inharmony?

A. Jesus said that what goes into the mouth does not matter so much as that which comes out. If you can keep to a fleshless diet, it is better; do without meat for choice, but if you must, accept graciously and gratefully what is provided, and feel no sense of horror and inharmony; thank God for the provision. Any harm due to the base emanations from the flesh diet will thus be counteracted. Your thoughts, your love towards the animal concerned can be used for good even in these circumstances. This does not apply to wantonly slaying and eating the flesh of brother animal - such practices must coarsen the vibrations of the body and the other vehicles.

Q. Does a vegetarian become super-sensitive and find the material life more difficult?

A. Pure food enables the vehicles to receive the higher vibrations; if the candidate aspires to higher ser-vice, he or she must overcome. A meatless diet creates a sensitive body, which increases the necessity for con-trol. If truly aspiring, the candidate will get to where material vibrations cannot affect him. Do you deserve to become of finer substance, so that you may the better serve humanity? ...We but show the way to true service. You must choose yourself.

The Quiet Places . . . We stand in the presence of the great Powers of the spiritual realms. May we absorb the love which is pouring upon us . . . May we not keep this to ourselves, may it not die in us, but go forth to give unto suffering humanity the love and the healing power which we receive. The out of print booklet, ‘Ways of Service in the World Today’ is published in its entirety in the back of the Compendium of White Eagle Teachings – Volume Six. This collection of teach-ings is available from the Lodge in the Americas in photocopy form.

(N.B. White Eagle has always advised the gentle way. Any life style changes are best attempted gradually and never forced. I know it took me fifteen years to become fully vegetarian; it is all about choice, we decide for ourselves the most harmonious way of living. With love, Jane.)

corky’s storyGreetings, and thanks for the exquisite message!Several weeks ago a dog walked into my yard and

heart, evidently dropped off here in the country. She was beautiful, shy and quite pregnant – a beagle mix, the vet said, who looked like a very small brown Labrador.

As she’s only about a year old and my health is un-certain, our vet helped me to get in touch with an animal rescuer who, it turns out, is part of a massive network. After the birthing (9 live puppies, 10 total), our rescuer took Corky and pups to her beautiful home and acreage to await transport to Iowa, where a rescue group special-izes in mixed-breed adoptions in a more populated area.

Corky and the pups flew by private plane to Iowa, courtesy of a Kansas pilot who volunteers for Pilots N Paws. This precious dog and her family have expanded their family of love to include a foster home there and, when ready, will go to “forever homes” that meet careful screening guidelines.

All these people moving mountains for this beautiful little dog! I hadn’t known about:

• These tightly networked rescuers throughout the country;

• Individuals, rescue groups and truckers who vol-unteer to drive rescued pets -- singly and collec-tively -- from city to city and state to state, often at their own expense;

• Private pilots who volunteer to transport these animals, also at their own expense;

• Vets like ours who work with them.(Another participant: my neighbor, a nurse practitioner, who came over at 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. one morning when it appeared Corky might be going into labor...)

I feel honored to exist on the planet at a time when these people are here! And all of you, too -- one of the first things I knew about White Eagle Lodge in the Hous-ton area is that you love and actively care for animals, and share that energy in our collective consciousness.

Thus your message puts me in mind of all of you, and of these people who’ve come together to give Corky (re-cently given the lively name of “Hershey”) and her pups such a beautiful present and future. Thank you.

Joy and peace, Annie

In MeMory of ColIn Cheyne

We remember with deep affection the remarkable life of Colin Cheyne who served nearly fifty years in the work of the Brotherhood. Colin passed into the Light on Febru-ary 25th, 2014, and will be greatly missed.

Colin is particularly remembered for the extraordinary gift of his devoted work in putting together much of the published White Eagle teachings into the “Compendium of White Eagle Teachings” which are alphabetically sorted by subject.*

Colin was inspired initially by the book “Ponder on This” a publication of some of the collected work brought through by Alice Bailey. He felt an urge to serve the White Eagle Lodge in the same way.

After seven years of painstaking work he completed the Compendium and then proceeded to carefully and most beautifully bind both the Inner and Brotherhood Teachings in several volumes and gave them to the three White Eagle Temple Centers in England, Australia and the Americas.

His work has facilitated the teachings to be more eas-ily accessed by group leaders and individuals who would so often ask: “Now what did White Eagle say about this?”

Thank you dear Colin, Brother Ambrose, for your tire-less and true service given with devotion and love – and for your delightful quiet sense of humor which blessed and warmed our hearts.

*The 6-volume Compendiums are available in simple pho-tocopy form from the White Eagle Lodge in the Americas for $175.00 plus applicable postage for out of the country.

The Lesson of Earth

Simon Says . . . by Simon BentleyPrincipal of the White Eagle School of Astrology

To a White Eagle astrologer, the word ‘service’ immediately brings to mind the earth element, as White Eagle tells us that the three earth signs, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, teach the human soul the les-son of service. We all understand, or think we do, the meaning of that word. Within the White Eagle Lodge we also know that much importance is attached to the giving of service, for a number of reasons, not least that in serving others we are helped to overcome self-ishness and egocentricity.

Through Taurus we learn not to be materially self-ish and acquisitive; as the Bible says, not to ‘lay up treasure on earth where moth and rust do corrupt’, but in heaven. Service to humanity ultimately overcomes the urge to materialism and the selfish traits that tend to go with it. Such is the urge to service of the sign of Virgo that those born under it usually only feel happy and fulfilled when they are being useful. They learn too that every task, all forms of service must be carried out to the very best of one’s ability and as perfectly as possible in every detail. Through Capri-corn we learn eventually truly to serve God, putting self entirely aside. The highest expression of this sign is the priest, in whom are combined a thorough un-derstanding of the material world (the earth element) with a spiritual approach to life and its challenges that acknowledges the supremacy of the Divine Plan.

The desire to serve, right and noble as it is, does however also bring its own problems if not balanced by wisdom. Many of us, perhaps, do this with our nearest and dearest in situations where love has be-come indulgence and the soul thus served is denied the opportunity for growth that a wiser approach would encourage! As always, nature shows us a neat lesson here. The hatching butterfly has to work hard to free its wings from the pupal case and to get its blood circulating right through those wings, but the effort of so doing develops the strength it needs to fulfil its winged destiny. If anyone is unwise enough to help the butterfly out of its case before it has achieved this, it is rendered helpless, and prey to the first predator

that comes along. It is service wisely given that helps other souls on their path to true freedom.

So, let us all aspire earnestly to learn the lessons of the three earth signs and serve to the best and high-est of our ability. In serving humanity and thereby putting self aside, we serve God, and the God in each one of us – and, in so doing, we also serve ourselves!

Wisdom from White EagleThose under the earthy signs will find that ex-

perience is teaching them the lesson of service. Earthiness may seem to chain them, and they go through some drastic experiences, when learning the lesson of service. You must not live for your-self; the bodily nature may self-indulgently want to draw things to itself, to accumulate possessions in order to gratify selfishness; and eventually the soul has to learn there is only one thing to live for – service to humanity. Those on that path of service will often accumulate wealth, only to have it taken away again and again. The lesson to learn is to give in service to God and man; to realize that their life on earth should be lived to serve.

If you look about you, you can see many learn-ing lessons in the earthy signs – control through the mind of the physical body, or that of perfecting the details of some organization in material life. Many advanced souls are learning the lesson of service by organizing and controlling their own private lives, learning to be exact and precise. All such lessons are found in the earthy signs. Many an older soul is at the head of some big material organization and appears to be materialistic; nev-ertheless he has incarnated for a special purpose, to learn wise control over masses of humanity and to learn to control the smallest detail in material life.

FAMILY NEWS

Denise

Greetings to all our Family! We are so pleased to let you know that we now have two White Eagle healing “Cybergroups”. Lynn Alley

is taking our work into cyberspace! For some months, we’ve had an Animal Healing Cyber-group, and now we have an Earth Healing Cybergroup. Lynn shares, “For the Animal Healing group, each Monday an inspirational email reminder goes out to group members, then we do our Healing for the Animal Group Soul on Tuesday morning in the comfort of our own homes.”

For the Earth Healing, each Thursday, an inspirational email reminder goes out to group members who “gather” in cyberspace on Friday mornings for the Earth Healing Attunement.

Lynn has a personal connection with the Chalice Well and thought this was a good place to start. Lynn shared with us: “Why shouldn’t wells be very special? They furnish us with the stuff of life itself, direct from the body of Mother Earth, and the water possesses a life of its own.

White Eagle said (in Earth Healer), “If you touch the water from a running brook, you touch the sparkle and the sunlight that give it life. Do you sense the water only? No, more than water - an indefinable, indestructible element - you sense the very life within it, like the life of the earth. You take in a very part of the cosmic body, the life-force.”

Members of both groups are encouraged to submit thoughts, stories and “finds” of their own to share. We welcome your participation. If you can spare half hour in your schedule you may wish to sit with us in joyful meditation for Mother Earth. Please do let me know if you’d like to be put on the list and receive the emails, and a copy of the White Eagle Earth Healing Attunement; I can be reached at [email protected].”

[Center note: We now have for our Animal Group Soul Healers a recording of our Animal Group Soul Ser-vice. It is available for a donation of $10 (which includes shipping). If you would like a copy please contact Anne at [email protected]]

Barbara Gentry of Boulder, Colorado (shown at left) just wrote us: “Having recently returned from the White Eagle Lodge at St. John’s Retreat Center in

Montgomery Texas, I have felt drawn to bring others together who may be interested in form-ing a White Eagle Group here in Colorado.

Because each group brings its own special contribution into the whole work, in return, each group receives inner sustenance and inspiration from being part of a greater group. The formation of a White Eagle Group can provide a sanctuary, a source of support and true refreshment for peace, wisdom and love to reside. It is the group itself, those that are drawn to White Eagle, that determine the type of sanctuary it could become.

If you are interested in meeting with others of like mind and heart, please contact me at your earliest convenience at [email protected].”

We have special news from our Rose Star group in Flagstaff, Arizona: Rhoda Jane Pertuit, their group Leader (pictured at right) shared, “Our Rose Star group has been do-ing well. I am amazed at how long we have been meeting weekly - over 16 years. It is interesting the way it grows and then comes back to the original 3 and grows ... again. I feel very blessed to have this group and to keep the light shining - it keeps me working and I hope growing to build the light from week to week. We have a good time supporting each other and being together with like-minded people.”

Happy Anniversary to our Flagstaff group from all of us! Here’s to your next 16 years!Let the Light Shine!

Recent RetReat HigHligHts

◄ Colum journeyed from England to give a most il-luminating retreat on the Cathars, a subject very dear to his heart which became clear in his presentation. A retreatant writes “A wonderful experience. Colum is a wonderful teacher and extremely knowledgeable. En-joyed the retreat immensely.” “Colum presents the his-tory and a connection with the White Eagle Lodge in a clear and evocative way.” Thank you, Colum.

Pictured left to right (standing) Phillip, Phyllis, Judy, Caterina, Joan, Sandra, Mary Jo, “Bud”, Colum; left to right (seated) Shirley, Felipe, Gloria.

► Once again Heather presented the retreatants with a most wonderful and enlightening retreat on our soul purpose as it relates to our astrological moon. It was hugely enjoyed by all and someone writes “Heather is an exceptional astrologer and her two retreats, which I have been fortunate enough to have attended have, in conjunction, SAVED MY LIFE!” Huge praise indeed. Thank you, Heather.

Pictured left to right (standing) Marlene, Barbara, Jane, De-nise, Julie, Patti; left to right (seated) Lisa, Heather, Carol.

► “This retreat (Journey Into Forgiveness) brought out so many memories, past, present, giving guidance to those seeking the way to forgiveness. This is one retreat that should be repeated. The presentation was superb and pro-fessional in a very loving way.” Another commented on “the process of forgiving, tips on handling opportunities, situations, pain. Handling the hearts of others and one-self.” An integral part of the retreat was listening in the Temple to Lyn Edwards CD on Forgiveness that everyone found very helpful.

Pictured left to right (standing) Pauline, David, Janet, Anne, Harry; left to right (seated) Karen, Joanie, Barbara.

◄ This is a continuation of the Inner Light series, lead by Jane. “It was truly inspiring. Jane facilitated our journey through spiritual unfoldment with grace and humor.” “ A very warm, hearty welcome! Valuable subjects applicable in daily life, well taught, uplifting meditations, wonderful sphere of companionship. Thank you all!” “I love the beautiful and peaceful setting which offers the opportunity for reflection in nature. The fireside discussions in the library were so intimate and wonderful.”

Blessing of Mother Earth January 4 - 6, 2015

Retreat cost $120 (US) - Room & Meals $130 (US)

This workshop involves a coming together on Twelfth Night to bless and give back to Mother Earth. Using the Three Kings Biodynamic Prepa-ration we join together in a simple Ceremony of Blessing for Mother Earth. Each one who attends is asked to bring a blessing of their own to be shared during the Ceremony. (There is of course no charge involved for the Ceremony itself ). The program ends at 4 pm on January 6th so make travel ar-rangements accordingly.

Join us for a peaceful, healing experience. All are warmly welcomed.

Angels and HealingApril 10 - 15, 2015Retreat cost $300 (US) - Room & Meals $390 (US)

In this retreat we will look deeply into the role of the Angels that touch human life, particularly the angels of healing:

“When the body is healed, when the angels help to purify and perfect the physical body, they do more than this, they

create, they weave into the subtler vehicles and into the actual physical form, forces of light and spiritual power, destined to slowly but surely create and make ready the human form for the next race.”

We will study the action and function of the chakra sys-tem and the colors or rays of healing used in the White Eagle Lodge; we will touch on the seven rays and the mu-sic and perfume on this high and most beautiful vibration of love.

We will take time to find that still place in the heart to connect with the angels as we seek that ideal of which White Eagle speaks, consciously working together to serve all life in the cooperation with the angels.

Inner Light Retreat Series - Part 1‘Sun’ WorshipPresenter: Jane SorbiOctober 3 - 8, 2014Retreat cost $300 (US) - Room & Meals $390 (US)NOTE: Retreat islimited to 6 people

This is the first in a se-ries of retreats designed as an in-depth study of the White Eagle Inner Teachings. The second retreat looks at the el-emental make up of our being and how that af-fects our responses and vi-sion in life and the third discusses the fields of being.

This retreat will look at the Ancient Wisdom and the story of ‘Sun’ Worship. Through White Eagle’s Inner Teaching we will learn more of the ancient cultures who worshiped the Son behind the Sun and more of the ‘plumed serpents’ – the wise ones. We will draw from an understanding of the past into an awareness of how we may more mindfully and effectively work for the future. Through meditation and quiet study we will spend a unique and meaningful few days together.

These retreats incorporate silent meditation and quiet study and they are for members and the student of the White Eagle path and are a part of the growing Wisdom School vision in the Americas.
