“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ

Jesus for you” - 1 THESSALONIANS 5:16 -18

This scripture reading sums up Stewardship. “Rejoice always” means place your trust in God;

He will provide all that you need. “Pray constantly” means prayer should be a running con-

versation with God throughout the whole day, every day. “Give thanks in all circumstances”

means even in bad situations, thank God. Suffering a little bit helps build empathy for others

in similar situations.

P R A Y E R O F C O N S E C R A T I O N O F C A L I F O R N I A “Most Holy Trinity: Our Father in heaven, who chose Mary as the fairest of your daughters; Holy Spirit, who chose Mary as your spouse; God the Son, who chose Mary as your mother; in union with Mary, we adore your majesty and acknowledge your supreme, eternal dominion and authority. Most Holy Trinity, we put the United States of American, and particularly, the

State of California, into the hands of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present the country and our State to You. Through her we wish to thank you for the great resources of this land and for the freedom, which has been its heritage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy on the Catholic Church in America. Grant us peace. Have mercy on our president and on all the officers of our government. Grant us a fruitful economy born of justice and charity. Have mercy on the capital and on industry and labor. Protect the family life of the nation. Guard the innocence of our children. Grant the precious gift of many religious vocations. Through the intercession of our Mother, have mercy on the sick, the poor, the tempted, sinners – on all who are in need. Mary, Immaculate Virgin, our Mother, Patroness of our land, we praise you and honor you and give our country and ourselves to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pierced by the sword of sorrow prophesized by Simeon, save us from degeneration, disaster and war. Protect us from all harm. O Advocate, pray for us, that acting always according to your will and the Will of your Divine Son, we may live and die pleasing to God. Amen.” P R A Y E R O F O F F E R I N G “Mary, Mother of the Redeemer, your Beloved Son, Jesus, redeemed mankind. He died on the Cross so that we might live with Him and for Him. As Mother of Sorrows, you shared uniquely in His work of redemption. Please, Blessed Mother, accept our spiritual offering of Rosaries and fasts and present them to your Divine Son for us to plead our cause before our Heavenly Father. In this way we hope to be spared the just punishment for our souls that our State deserves from killing our unborn, sick, elderly, unwanted and for the violence, sex abuse, drugs, alcoholism, and sex trafficking we commit to others. Please, Blessed Mother, protect our State from natural disasters and war. Intercede to defeat and claim victory over the whole Culture of Death, worldliness, and help us to bring back God and the concept of family in our life, so we learn to live God’s commandments and to love our Neighbor in our everyday life. We believe that your Divine Son sheds the graces of His redemptive sacrifice upon the world. But as you shared most fully in His sufferings, as Our Mother of Sorrows, so now we believe that your Divine Son chooses to distribute the graces He has won for us through you, as our Advocate. Therefore, we bring our needs before you in confident prayer. Please touch the hearts that need to defend life but choose not to. Please touch the minds and hearts of those on the Supreme Court, as well as all the people of this land; that all may see what horror has been done to our young. Please, Advocate of God’s Children, intercede that our message may spread far and wide, so that all may work for the protection of the unborn, elderly, sick and unwanted. Please petition your Divine Son on our behalf to protect our nation from all harm and to move us to reform those ways which are contrary to His law so that His glory may be greatly manifested here on earth. Amen.

What is Life Teen? As a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.

What are Lifenights?

Lifenights are weekly large-group gatherings for high schoolers that immediately follow the Life Teen Mass. There are three basic types of Life Nights: Doctrinal (a.k.a. Catechetical), Issue, and Social. Doctrinal nights follow the semester theme and break open a particular tenant of the faith. Issue nights deal with specific “real-world issues” that teens deal with (e.g. drinking, gossip, chastity, etc.). These nights help the teens see how their Catholic faith is relevant to every aspect of their lives. Finally, social nights build Christian community and friendships. Lifenights take place every Sunday from 7:30 PM - 9 PM.

How else are the youth involved?

High Schoolers at OLA are welcome to join us for Summit, a lectionary-based discipleship group that meets weekly on Monday nights at 6 PM. We read, reflect on, and plan to implement the following Sunday’s Gospel into our lives. Teens are also welcome to sign up to join a Discipleship Group (D-Group) that meets weekly to grow in faith and commu-nity. D-Groups last until the teens graduate, causing the teens and Core member with them to become a little family of their own.

What is the Core team and how do I join?

One passionate youth minister is great, but one person can-not minister to an entire youth group. That is where the Core team comes in. Core Members are adults who choose to re-spond to their baptismal call by serving young people. The Life Teen Program relies heavily on the time and talents of adults within the parish community, men and women who truly care about our youth, and who are selfless enough to make sacrifices that ensure that our young people come to know God through the love of Christ and the truth of the Sacraments. One question you have to ask yourself is, “Who can serve as a Core Member?” If you have that image in your head of what the perfect Core Member looks and acts like, get rid of it. There is no “one perfect” look. We’re looking for servant hearts, hearts that are form-able, not just the “perfect-looking” or the “perfectly formed” Core. One can apply for the Core Team by filling out the applica-tion below and having an interview with the youth minister.

Who do I contact for more information?
