These words signify the denouement of Isaac’s life.

Throughout the sketchy treatment that he receives in the Torah, little is really understood of this man. And on the surface, nearly every significant event that takes place in his life, shows him to be a victim – someone who is very

much controlled by the forces that surround him. It seems to us early on in the story that Isaac is no Avraham, or no Ya’akov – not the kind to shape and move the events of the world. But there is also something, actually a great

deal, to be said about someone who takes the condition of the world and summons the strength to live with it and

not fight it. For not all can be changed.
