BBQ Roster Thank you to all the families who helped last week especially to Lisa Greensill who turned up for her shift even though her son didn’t attend Swim Club that night! We truly appreciate everyone’s assistance but don’t expect you to ‘clock-on’ for your shift if your kids aren’t attending. Instead, please send a text to Nigel Oram on 0416 235 156 and we will swap your shift with another family on the night. The roster for this Friday is;

2010 Brisbane Open Water Championships We have a team of Brisbane Jets competing at this event. For many, it is their first open water swim! All families are welcome to cheer our swimmers on.

Swim Caps

Southside Carnival This swim meet is a great carnival at Morningside held in a 25m pool. A great first meet for our swimmers especially for our younger children. Events start from ‘6 years and under’ for 25m of each stroke. Numbers are capped for this swim meet so we will be closing nominations next Thursday 11th November. Carnival Results Champ’s Bodyworks Yeronga Swim Meet Last weekend we tried a different format with Bronze and Sharks squads competing at the Yeronga meet on Saturday October 30 with Kris, while Gold and Silver squads competed at the Redlands meet on Sunday October 31 with Renato. This was successful in allowing everyone (except for two families) to have half a weekend at the pool. All swimmers raced well with many PBs recorded and many medals won.

At Yeronga, Phoebe Danieli (7 years), Sam Leys-Walton (8 years) and Emily Hatherall (9 years) were Age Champions. Luke Hatherall, Claire Campbell, Aleksis Gigovic, Isabelle Campbell and Bella Danieli were also medalists. Great PBs were recorded by Charlotte Sargent (improving up to an amazing 14 seconds in each of her 25m races!), Tara Carrigan, Charlotte Craig, Max Craig, Maxim Raymond, Matiesse Maher, Bronte Parbery, Oscar Craig, Tegan Frail, Chloe Frail, Kyle Maher, Bridie Carrigan and Emma Campbell. Many thanks to Bridie and Emma for helping to marshall the younger swimmers. Great job.

While our swimmers represented Brisbane Jets with distinction, there are a few things that could be improved on. Could all swimmers please arrive before the scheduled warm-up time at all swim meets (unless otherwise arranged with the coach). This means that the swimmers can warm up as a team, the swimmers are much better prepared to race, and it also makes the coaches' job much easier! Also, could all swimmers ensure that they have a Brisbane Jets swim cap to race in. We want everyone to know that you are representing our club!

Redlands Long Course Qualifying Meet What a great effort by all our Brisbane Jets swimmers who competed at this swim meet. Congratulations to all our swimmers to qualified for events at the upcoming State Championships in December and to Toby Rull who has qualified for more events at the upcoming National Championships in 2011. Well done!

We had 22 Jets placed first, 22 placed second and 13 placed third! What a fantastic result. Even the ducks had a go in the pool…look at that Quackstroke!!!!!

Brisbane Jets Swimming Club, winner of the First Division competition at the 2010 Brisbane Junior Metropolitan and 2010 Brisbane Sprint Championships is raising funds for the purchase and installation of automatic timing equipment to improve race time accuracy and increase efficiency in running club nights. The Brisbane Jets also supports competitive swimmers participating in Brisbane, Queensland and National swimming competitions.
