There is a God.1. What do you believe about God?

2. Isaiah 59:1-2

For those who don’t believe in God, it is no wonder because there is a barrier between God and us (sin) We cannot see Him and He will not hear us.

Page 7: Witnessing the Gospel in the Hebrew Scriptures Presented by: Rev. Kevin Parviz

There is a God.3. That barrier exists even for those

who believe in God. Sin has destroyed our relationship with God.

b. How does God feel about one sin in our life, with regard to

judgment?

We are all accountable to God.

3. Isaiah 64:6In America, we are taught to rely upon ourselves and our good works to prosper.

a. For those who rely upon their good works, what does God think about all our good works with regard to overcoming the barrier of sin?

c. There is nothing we can do to appease God and earn the

judgment of everlasting life. All we can earn is shame and everlasting contempt.

God has the solution.1. Leviticus 17:10-11

God Himself has given us the way to atone for sins. Are there still blood sacrifices being made in the temple?

Page 12: Witnessing the Gospel in the Hebrew Scriptures Presented by: Rev. Kevin Parviz

God has the solution.2. Jeremiah 31:31-34

800 years before the destruction of the temple, God spoke through Jeremiah, and foretold the coming of a new covenant to replace this Sinaitic covenant (that under which the temple sacrifices were made).

God has the solution.3. God is both

just ~ demanding a penalty (blood sacrifice) for sin, and

merciful ~ desiring to forgive sins and remember wickedness no more

God has the solution. How can He satisfy both His nature and His desire?
