West Manheim PTO~Meeting Minutes~5/12/15

I. Call to OrderJen Benzing called to order the meeting of West Manheim PTO at 6:35pm

II. Roll CallThe following persons were present Jen Benzing, President; Robyn Nicholson, Vice President; Mandi Peltzer, Secretary: Stephanie Jennings, Treasurer; Principal, Brian Cromer. Teachers Erica OBrien, Kim Cherry.

III. Principals ReportMr. Cromer began by discussing all of the upcoming events. The first grade class is going to Catoctin Zoo, 5th grade is going to MD science center, and kindergarten is going to East Woods and Hidden Pond at the high school. The third grade went to Sky Zone in Timonium based on their force and motion science unit; this may become our permanent 3rd grade class trip.All 5th grade band and orchestra students are taking a trip to the middle school to see what band and orchestra is all about. On Monday, the 18th the band and orchestra will be preforming in their concert.Kindergarten registration went well.There will be a parent appreciation day to welcome parents to our school and to thank them for volunteering.Mr. Cromer thanked Tom Jemison for the talent show; it was a huge success. This was his last year, he has been helping with it for about 15 years, and we thank him for his commitment!

No teacher staffing changes for next year but Jackie Neiderer has retired and Donna Simms will be retiring in July after 18 years.

IV. Current Events Updatea. Teacher Appreciation- Pot luck lunch was great, we will continue to do our lunch this way. Our gifts will be given to all staff in upcoming years. We have always given the custodial staff $25 gift cards at the end of the year. We will give the 7 cafeteria workers a thank you basket for summer break this year.b. BOGO Book Fair- Shannon is getting the schedule ready. c. Carnival- Everything is coming together, Key Club volunteers get vouchers for dinner. We need juice boxes, sodas, candy bars, prizes, candywe have water. We need a flyer for baked good donations. d. WM Community Yard Sale- $461.00 profit after expensese. Other items-PTO Board Nominations- No nominations were made the PTO board will stay the same for the upcoming year.Dates for upcoming school year 2015/2016- October-Fest Oct 1st with a rain date of October 8th, Race for Education Oct. 30th, Shoppers Room- December 7th -11th, Family Fun Night Feb 5th with a snow date of Feb. 6th, Bingo March 11th with a snow date of March 8th, Talent Show April 21st & 22th, Yard sale May 7th, Carnival May 20th rain date 21st

Volunteer clearances will need to be done over the summer, if you are helping out on the first day of school. Dr. Rupp has sent out letters. PTO will reimburse $20 for 10 hours of service to the PTO events!
