WMU Dining Services Recycling Rules – Oct. 2014 What’s Recyclable? Recyclables are not garbage; they are commodities we must repurpose to be made into new products. Dirty materials cannot be recycled and will become trash. Make sure recyclables are clean and free of liquids and food . Please follow all directions and include only those items listed below. IMPORTANT: All containers, cans, and bottles MUST be rinsed out thoroughly before recycling Updated: October 2014 Material Recyclable NOT Recyclable Plastic Food Containers & Cardboard Plastics must be washed clean; labels are OK Flatten boxes; remove plastic wrap & tape; small labels are OK; must be clean 5 Gallon pickle buckets and lids get thrown away Waxed coated cardboard boxes (i.e., some produce boxes) get thrown away Metal Lids, Metal Caps, Cans, Glass Jars, & Clear Plastic Clamshells (All are recyclable, should not put these items in the trash.) Metals & glass jars must be washed clean; labels are OK Clear plastic clamshells go in metal & can recycle dumpster Aerosol cans must be empty of product – only air is left in can. Styrofoam & Enviroware MUST be kept separate from bottles/cans Styrofoam is collected separately Enviroware must be thrown away Shrink Wrap, Plastic Film, & Plastic Tablecloths (All are recyclable, should not put these items in the trash.) Must be kept separate from bottles/cans Shrink wrap, clear plastic film, & plastic tablecloths are collected separately If not fairly clean – throw away Paperboard Cartons All must be thrown in the trash. Throw away all cartons (see picture)

WMU Dining Services Recycling Rules – Oct. 2014  

What’s  Recyclable?    

Recyclables  are  not  garbage;  they  are  commodities  we  must  repurpose  to  be  made  into  new  products.  Dirty  materials  cannot  be  recycled  and  will  become  trash.  Make  sure  recyclables  are  clean  and  free  of  l iquids  and  food.  Please  follow  all  directions  and  include  only  those  items  listed  below.

Material Recyclable NOT Recyclable

Plastic  Food  Containers  &  Cardboard  

   

• Plastics  must  be  washed  clean;  labels  are  OK
