Message from Mrs. Hemingway
Liberty Pines Academy Families,
Night of Arts
We hope you are able to join us for our annual “Night of Arts” on Tuesday,
December 12, 2017 starting at 6:00 pm. We invite our Wolf Families to come hear
our chorus and band perform, visit our vendor booths, and participate in our PTO
General Assembly Meeting. You will also be able to pick up your Square One Art
orders just in time for the holiday season. Wrapping paper orders in the Multi-
Purpose room near the gym throughout the evening event. We look forward to
seeing our Wolf families on December 12th!
Car Loop
Parents, we need your help with the car loop. Please remain in the car line and do
not attempt to pass other vehicles. This is creating an unsafe environment for our
staff, students, and families of LPA. Cars are not permitted in the bus loop area from
8:00-8:30 each morning. It is strongly recommended that you utilize bus
transportation that is provided by the district office to ensure your child arrives to
school on time. All of our school busses arrive at LPA by 8:20 each morning. This
allows adequate time for students to eat breakfast if they need to, unpack and get
ready for the school day which starts promptly at 8:30. Please ensure your child is
ready to exit the vehicle with their backpack and lunch box to quickly exit the
vehicle. Thank you for your support in keeping our parent drop off area moving to
ensure students are in their classroom at 8:30.
Parent Pick Up Safety
Please pay close attention to our cross walk areas in the parent pick up and drop off
line. Prior to entering our campus, please take a moment to look at the cross walk
area to ensure families are not crossing in front of your car. We have an increase in
student walkers in our area and we ask that our LPA families pay close attention to
the cross walk area at the parent pick up line. Thank you for continuing to assist us
with the safety of our students and families.
Congratulations to our LPA Volleyball Teams
We are proud of our volleyball teams this year. We held a banquet on November 13
to recognize the hard work and dedication of our players. I would also like to give a
special thank you to Coach Arritt and Coach Josephson for working with our
amazing young men and women as they continued to improve with their volleyball
skills each week. Way to represent LPA students!

AVID
We are excited to share that LPA has
been selected to participate in the
AVID Focused Note Taking Field
Test. This new instructional tool will
build upon our current writing
processes and will enable students
multiple exposures to learning
content. The field test will be
implemented in select Kindergarten -
5th classrooms from December –
February.
LPA Spelling Bee
The LPA Spelling Bee will take place
on Tuesday, December 5th at
8:45a.m. The spelling bee is made
up of 34 participants from 5th – 8th
grades. The winner of the LPA
Spelling Bee will go to compete at
District in January!
LPA Supports Our
Troops
In the months of October, November
and December, kindergarten, first
and second grades will be collecting
supplies and writing letters.
Please use the care package supply
list and send in your donated
supplies by Tuesday, December 5th.
Your child will be writing their letters
in class during a writing lesson.
Thank you for supporting our school,
our community and our troops!
Media Matters
Since the beginning of school we have ordered just over 400
books for the media center. Thank you for all of your support!
The St. Johns County Public Library has a new database
called, BrainFuse HelpNow. It’s amazing! It’s one of the new
St. Johns County Public Library System databases that
provides live tutoring. In addition, live resume assistance is
available through BrainFuse JobNow, for older students.
Students who are interested in testing for the Middle School
Battle of the Books team, will need to read at least seven
books prior to the test. Test will be Monday, Dec. 4th in the
media center, as soon as students arrive to school.
Thank you for making the LPA Media Center – the best ever!

8th Grade Career Academy Parent Night
Save the date for our current LPA 8th grade parents, BTHS will be
here on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss
career academy options and life as a high school student to
prepare for the upcoming year. Our 8th grade students will hear
this presentation during the day on Wednesday and the evening is
a time for parents to be informed about next steps to prepare for
high school. We look forward to seeing our 8th grade families on
December 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.
8th Grade Washington DC Parent Night
Our last parent night before the Washington DC trip will take place
on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 immediately following the Night of
Arts in the gym at 7:30 p.m. This is your chance to ask any
lingering questions you may have, get a copy of the most up to
date agenda, and to hear a reminder of what to have your child
pack for the trip. We hope all our families will be able to attend this
brief meeting before we leave on January 8, 2018.

This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the
help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George
Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.
"This is a very talented cast who has a great passion for this classic story. They are enjoying the
process of learning about how these stories were broadcast simply over radio waves. They are working
hard to perfect their different "radio voices" for each character." says Director, Jill B. Herkel.
This will be a wonderful holiday evening at the theatre!
Tickets are only $5 and the show runs December 7th and 8th at 6 p.m. at Liberty Pines Academy 10901
Russell Sampson Road.

The Staff Member of the Month winner for November is Mrs. Raya
and the Volunteer of the Month is Karen Millard for her work on
Boosterthon! Thank you for all that you do for LPA!
The "Of the Month" program is looking for your help in recognizing
LPA students, teachers, staff, and volunteers who go above and
beyond for our great school. If you feel you know of just the right
person to be recognized, please send an email
to [email protected] with a short description as to
why this person should be considered.
Of The Month Program
Liberty Pines Academy would like to thank our families, business
partners and our LPA PTO for an amazing Boosterthon
fundraiser. We were able to raise $30,000 which was given to our
school from our PTO. We are in the process of purchasing new
laptop computers for each of our Kindergarten through fifth grade
classrooms. These additional laptop computers will allow our
students to access their personalized learning pathway through
iReady for reading and math. Again, thank you to our families for
your continued support as we work together to ensure our
students achieve!
Thank You!
