WOMAN is the superfertile collection of pieces that pushes this conversation into the homes and hands of women, literally. Much of the violence women experience is unseen. WOMAN is a testament to the resilience and beauty of every woman, and also a demand that we open our eyes to and address the insidious nature of these daily transgressions against half the human race.

every 9 seconds a woman in the world is abused. rates of abuse, both physical and sexual, impact up to 1/3 of the female population of the world.

superfertile artist Kali Arulpragasan works to expose these atrocities through the creation of wearable art in her collection, WOMAN. for the past 2 years, Kali has labored tirelessly to fashion art that honors the strength and beauty of woman, while also highlighting the myriad of abuses shouldered by so many of the female gender. While the world continues to devalue women, WOMAN holds them high, but with an unwavering focus on the need for change.

hands grasping a woman’s wrists. controlling her. squeezing her. pulling/Pushing her… Hands wrapped around a woman’s throat. Cutting off her breath. Suffocating her. Choking her. Hands clenched into fists. Ready to punch. To knock her down. These hands and gloves represent violence and injustice against all women. These are the hands of her oppression. The loss of her freedom.

The hands used in the collection were painstakingly scanned and modeled from the hands of a man. Once scanned and sculpted using cAd techniques, they are 3D printed and finished in gold, silver, or colored chrome electro plating. These original designs are uniquely beautiful in their adornment, standing in sharp contrast to the oppression of traditional gender roles, marital abuse, wage inequality, rape and sexual assault, trafficking and the exploitation that is the root of their design and both evident and unseen throughout the world.

each design in the collection has been named in honor of a prominent female who has experienced some form of extreme violence. she either escaped her abuser and heroically spoke out against them, or she was brutally killed by their hands, and silenced forever. With their names we are connecting their individual stories to a global narrative, WOMAN. for those women without the freedom to live life as they please, without freedom from violence, without freedom of opportunity, without equality, we are exposing the hands that obstruct them. if women cannot learn, earn equal wages, drive a car, own property, speak out, hold positions of power and leadership, and find justice, they cannot escape their current condition. by making the invisible hands of oppression visible, we come to knock down the doors that have been closed to us.

When will the world empower every woman? When will the full potential of every woman be realized through equality and equal opportunity? When will the abuses end?

superfertile is a london based artistic jewelry design house that highlights world issues through highly original pieces that push the traditional boundaries of form, design and reason.

After graduating from central saint Martin’s college, superfertile founder and creative director, Kali Arulpragasam, held senior positions in top flight advertising agencies in london, los Angeles and New york. A decade later she returned to london and brought a new dimension to jewellery design, combining her creative advertising skills with her passion for global politics. The result is a unique range of stunning pieces that adorn the wearer with the traditional elegance of elaborate jewelry while rendering them an intriguing billboard that highlights a global issue.

The superfertile philosophy has rapidly achieved international critical acclaim. Arulpragasam explains the label’s dramatic rise as being down to the ability of the designs to demand attention at many levels, as an artistic sculpture, as a unique fashion-forward wearable item and as a way of putting pertinent issues back into debate among all who come into contact with the pieces. in addition to the style and fashion media, publications as diverse as the New york Times and Time magazine have covered the work of superfertile. All superfertile pieces start as a message. This message then dictates the whole process from design to final piece and production which are all individually hand crafted from precious and semi-precious materials using traditional techniques

The WOMAN art, sculptures, sculpture Jewelry and Wearable Jewelry can be constructed in any size and in any material. WOMAN, like women, has no limits. We want you to participate in the creation of each piece of WOMAN: imagined however big, however precious, however rare… the possibilities are endless.

WOMAN original art, sculptures, designs can range in size from a 1x1 cm earrings to a 16 meter sculpture, and are available in bespoke sizes.

All 3D files can be printed directly in precious to semi-precious materials such as resin, Nylon sls, Acrylic, plastic, bronze, copper, brass, gold plate brass, Nickel, Aluminum, silver, silver gold plate, gold, White gold, platinum, and diamond embezzled gold.

All items are made using a carefully developed protocol of techniques and procedures in london studios.

We begin with a scan of a Man hands, using cAd, sculpt the image directly into a computer. This sculpture is then manipulated by design and produced through 3d printing. solid or hollow, all measurements are modifiable to bespoke sizes, materials and finishes. Each stage of the process; scanning to cAd to printing; is carefully designed by our london 3d printing Team.

After the prints are complete, the works are taken to our second studio for electro plating. using burning and silver-plating techniques, we apply gold and other plating pallets, such as chrome and a variety of colors. british Artisanal Jewelery makers of prestigious hatton garden london finish the process, completing the plated works by adding links, chains and embellishments, thus turning sculpture into wearable art.

All sculptures and wearable sculptures are only available in limited editions of bespoke:

World edition: One piece in existence/created.

Most precious Woman: five pieces created.

World Treasures: One hundred pieces created.

some smaller pieces in semi-precious materials are available in 500 and 1000 piece limited editions.

Every piece comes an authenticity certificate indicating the materials and the number of pieces in each edition, i.e. 1/1

We invite clients to create original WOMAN designs in the sizes and materials of their choosing.

smaller jewelry items are printed, casted, and molded by hand by artisanal jewelers in hatton garden, london uK. life size art, sculpture, and jewelry in are printed in London and New York, NY and finished in London. Larger sculptures (from 1 to 20 meters) are printed and delivered from Asia.

All pieces are made by a team of skilled technicians under the close direction of superfertile, and using a complex methodology that marries the ancient and the modern.

Kali Arulpragasam (superfertile creative director and founder) works with 3 studios in london uK to create the wearable art of WOMAN. Over the past 16 months, she has worked tirelessly with a team of 10 artisans in the uK to develop the processes necessary to generate each piece and bring superfertile’s WOMAN to life.
