The Bureau of Labor Stat ist ics and the USDA Census in Agr icul ture clear ly indicate the num ber of wom en engaged in the m any aspects of product ion agr icul ture is increasing and m ore wom en are farm owners and m ore are act ively involved in the day to day farm ing.

Agr icul ture is one of the m ost dangerous occupations with m ul t iple heal th threats including reproduct ive r isks and ergom ics hazards for fem ale agr icul tural producers.

The H azard Com m unicat ion Standard tr ain ing program is in tended for fem ale workers and m anagers in the agr icul tural industr y. This includes dair y farm s and sm al l farm s that h ir e at-r isk populat ions. The m ajor focus of the program is on the ident i f icat ion of and the safe usage of chem icals and pest icides, along with propoer use of r espirator y protect ion.

Er gon om i c Safety for Far m W om en

Farm wom en face un ique ergonom ic chal lenges because m achinery is not m ade for the size of fem ales and wom en have a decreased level of bone densi ty as they age. This program is in tended to help wom en in r ural / agr icul tural com m unit ies prevent ergonom ic issues that can lead to farm related m usculoskeletal in jur ies.

Pr egnancy and fer t i l i ty are often not considered when wom en assum e farm tasks. Pest icide and other chem ical exposures, zoonotic diseases and heavy l i f t ing par t icular ly dur ing chi ldbear ing years, present chal lenges. Sim ple solut ions wi l l be offered to r educe adverse r eproduct ive outcom es.

N ote: All trainings run between 1-2 hours and can be customized to meet the needs of your business.

For onsite (in person trainings) class size must be at least 30 in order to meet program funding requirements.
