Women’s Day Celebration on International Women’s Day 8th March 2019

#AbSamjhautaNahin Interactive Workshop arranged by SCET TED Club and Women’s

Development Cell, SCET

Women’s development cell (WDC), SCET and SCET TED club organized Interactive Workshop on

#AbSamjhautaNahin for students of Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat on 8th March

2019, Friday between 3:00PM to 5:00PM at TIFAC core seminar Hall to celebrate women’s day in its best

possible manner.

Session was conducted by Ms. Agrima Rathore, Campaign Manager for Josh talks and Vivel. The seminar

started with a very general discussion regarding gender. The six fundamental rights mentioned in the

constitution were discussed. Legal rights for women as well men were discussed briefly. Sensitive issues like

domestic violence, harassment at workplace were discussed with certain case studies that had severe effects on

society. Several women who have inspired us by fighting for such sensitive issues were showcased and due to

that amendment in our legal system were narrated. Session was ended with “How to deal with issues related to

women safety”, “How to lodge a complaint” and “How the proceeding carried forward after lodging complain”.

Overall it was a very eye-opening seminar for all. Around 120 students of SCET from various branches had

participated in workshop.

Report on

Women’s Day Celebration on International Women’s Day 8th March 2019

“Nothing makes a woman more Beautiful than the belief that she is Beautiful”

International Women’s Day is perfect time to rejoice the joy of being a WOMAN. With this idea, M.C.A

Department, under auspices of Women Development Cell, celebrated Women’s Day on 8th March 2019, 3.30

PM onwards in M.C.A. Lab in a very unique and special way. The event was coordinated by Prof. Alpa Shah

and Prof. Zankhana Vaishnav.

Under celebration, following activities were conducted for the female faculties and students of M.C.A.

Department:

1. Screening of documentary “Period. End of Sentence”. This documentary is awarded Best Documentary

Short Subject by The Oscars. It revolves around the story of Indian women fighting the stigma

surrounding menstruation and the start of manufacturing sanitary pads.

2. Short skit on “દિકરી હાથમાાંથી ગઈ” was performed by 4th semester female students.

The event ended by giving each of the women special message wishes and chocolates. The celebrations spurred

young females to fly with wings, made them desirous to endeavor on newer trails and blossom in each season of

life, truly brought the best on this special day.

Talk on Gynecological Problems of Women by Dr. Purnima Nadkarni

Women’s development cell (WDC), SCET organized Talk on “Gynecological Problems of Women” by Dr.

Purnima Nadkarni on 5th January 2019 between 9:00 – 10:30AM at TIFAC, Seminar Hall, SCET.

Dr Purnima Nadkarni is Director of Nadkarni Hospital & Test Tube Baby Centre-Valsad, 21st Century

Hospitals Pvt. Ltd-Vapi and 21st Century Hospital & Test Tube Baby Centre-Surat. She is one of the reputed

and leading Gynecologist and Infertility Specialist in Surat as well as south Gujarat region. She has an

experience of more than 2 decades. She is renowned public speaker and talks on variety of topics related to

women health, hygiene, nutrition etc. She was invited at SCET for talk regarding women issues and women

empowerment.

Prof. Bhumi Shah, introduced our speaker and after floral welcome talk by Dr. Purnima Nadkarni was started.

In her talk, she narrated 3 stages of women life namely Adolescent, Youth and Menopause and discussed

problems in each stages. She also discussed problems after 35, their symptoms and treatments. She also

suggested food for healthier life. She gave mantra of run run and run to live problem free life. Talk was ended

by question answer and informal discussion during tea.

Around 50 female staff and students of SCET attended program. Overall program was good and well

appreciated by all the participants.

Report of Awareness program related to Breast Feeding under Women’s Development

cell (WDC), SCET

Women’s development cell (WDC), SCET organized Awareness program related to Breast Feeding for female

students of Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat on 7/8/2018, Tuesday between 12:00noon

to 1:00PM.

Program was conducted by students Zainab, Medhavi and Tasneem, from Department of Food Science and

Nutrition of Sheth P. T. Mahila College of Arts & Home Science, Surat. “Breastfeeding is the foundation of

lifelong good health for babies and mothers”. Around this theme presentation was given and importance as well

as benefits was covered.

During program Smt. Minaxi Tripathi, faculty from SPTM, Dr. Surendra Prajapati, Gynecologist, and Dr.

Keyuriben Shah, Pediatrician were present answered all the questions askd by the audience.
