THE CHEAPEST WAY OF HEATING YOUR HOME

The topic of the cheapest way to heat a house is

a frequently occurring one. Wood is undoubtedly the

cheapest way by far. Even if you buy your wood ready-cut

and chopped, your fuel costs will be lower than if you use

a heat pump or district heating for example.

If you have your own source of wood or someone with

a source of wood that you can help out, you can get

free wood for relatively little effort. Modern machinery

makes cutting and chopping fast and simple. Your heating

needs for the whole year to be met in just a few hours.

It is common to get together with other wood-fired boiler

owners and rent or buy machines together.

LARGE RANGE

Värmebaronen has Sweden’s largest range of wood-fired

boilers. Our range of products offers models to suit all require-

ments. Common to them all is the easy maintenance, which

results in high efficiency, saving both time and effort.

• Combimax 30, Vedolux 40 & 50 – natural ventilation boilers

• Vedolux 30 & 37 – wood-fired boilers with a suction fan

• Vedolux CU – with integrated hot water heater

• Biomax – combines pellets and wood

WOOD-FIRINGBurning wood! Mankind’s original way

of generating warmth when it was cold

outside. Modern wood burners store

the heat from the boiler in accumulator

tanks and benefit from even heating

throughout the day.

HOW DOES IT WORK?Pile the wood in the boiler, ideally

with smaller sticks at the bottom.

Fill the entire boiler. Light with the

LPG igniter supplied for around one

minute. The boiler will now heat the

accumulator tanks.

VÄRMEBARONEN’S SOLUTIONS

Värmebaronen has been manufacturing heating products

since 1975. Our wood-fired systems have undergone

many changes and improvements over the years. In other

words, they are proven, durable and worry-free products.

Manufacturing at our own factory in Sweden gives us an

overview of the entire production process and guarantees

the highest possible quality. A safe buy!

carbon dioxide neutral

MAINTENANCE-FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT BOILERS

MEAN CARBON DIOXIDE-NEUTRAL HEATING

Wood is a biofuel which, when used in the right wood-fired

boiler and fired in the right way, has minimal environ-

mental impact. The carbon dioxide that is released during

combustion is the same amount of carbon dioxide that the

wood gives off when it dies and decomposes.

NATURALLY, ALL OUR WOOD-FIRED BOILERS

ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY APPROVED

All Värmebaronen’s products intended for biofuel have

been tested by the Technical Research Institute of Sweden

(SP). Because they are so easy to maintain, it is easy to

maintain the excellent characteristics. This saves both

wood and the environment.

the convenience ofmodern wood-firing

FORGET ALL ABOUT TRADITIONAL WOOD-FIRING

Forget everything you’ve heard about traditional heating

with wood. With a modern system from Värmebaronen,

you will always have an even temperature in the house,

plenty of hot water and a future-proof system which can

be connected to other heat sources such as solar panels,

pellets or heat pumps. You will also be heating your house

the environmentally friendly way!

IDEAL FOR USE IN URBAN AREAS TOO

Using Värmebaronen’s environmentally approved

systems, you can also use a wood-fired boiler in urban

areas. If you use a wood-fired boiler in the right way with

dry wood, you needn’t worry about irritating your neigh-

bours. In the past, wood was burned with minimal oxygen

in order to make it last longer. Now, firing continues

throughout the day and the heat is stored in accumulator

tanks. Pollutants and odours are eliminated.

CHOOSE AN ACCUMULATOR TANK CAREFULLY

There are many different types of accumulator tank avail-

able on the market. The simplest basically just consists

of an oil drum and associated connections. You should

choose well-equipped accumulator tanks instead. We

believe our Aqualux Teknik range offers the best and most

flexible choice. The tanks are packed full of ingenious solu-

tions to make heating as simple and efficient as possible.

A GOOD CHOICE FOR THE FUTURE

Värmebaronen’s wood-fired boilers are built to a high level

of quality using thoroughly tested materials to ensure a

long lifetime. The firebox is ceramic to enable it to tolerate

the high temperatures required for environmentally friendly

combustion. The most important factor however is that

our wood-fired boilers are the easiest on the market to

maintain.

This is how a good wood-fired boiler should be constructed

THE CHEAPEST WAY OF HEATING YOUR HOME

Wood is undoubtedly the cheapest way of heating your

home by far. If you have your own source of wood or

someone with a source of wood that you can help out, you

can get free wood for little effort. Modern machinery enables

your heating needs for the whole year to be met in just a

few hours. It is common to get together with other wood-

fired boiler owners and rent or buy machines together.

For ultimate convenience, buy ready-chopped wood.

Wood is still the cheapest method of heating.

LOW MAINTENANCE COSTS

Insurance companies regularly carry out surveys of

the durability, lifetime and reliability of heating boilers.

Värmebaronen has come out well in all these surveys.

Careful material selection and many years of experience

have resulted in robust products without any irritating

minor faults. As in all wood-fired boilers, ceramic is a

consumable item. In our boilers, the ceramic consists of a

number of components and is cheap and easy to replace

when necessary. A benefit that saves money.

THE SECURITY OF A SINGLE MANUFACTURER

Naturally, you can combine our wood-fired boilers with

accumulator tanks from other manufacturers. However,

we recommend our own accumulators. This will give you

piece of mind, knowing that all the components in your

wood-fired system were made by the same manufacturer.

All components have been designed and tested to work

optimally together.

Wood-firing gives cheap home heating

five minutes which save both wood and time

SWEEP, REFILL AND LIGHT IN FIVE MINUTES

As people today often have hectic schedules juggling work

and family, the less time spent in the boiler room, the better.

Our philosophy is that you must be able to light the fire

without getting dirty in no more than minutes per day.

In this time, you should be able to sweep out the soot, add

new wood and light the fire. You can leave the boiler room

with a healthy conscience, happy in the knowledge that you

have not cut corners on maintenance and that the boiler

is burning efficiently. Värmebaronen is the only company

in the market to offer you this convenience and peace of

mind. No other wood-fired boilers come close to being this

maintenance-friendly.

ALWAYS MAINTAIN A HIGH LEVEL OF EFFICIENCY

When choosing a wood-fired boiler, you should always start

by looking at how you sweep and remove the ashes from

the old fire. If access is awkward, maintenance will be left

undone and the heat will be lost up the chimney. Choose

Värmebaronen instead. Your chimney-sweep will thank you

too, as his job will be easier too.

THE STAND WILL SAVE YOUR BACK

When you choose a boiler, you choose a friend that you

will have for many years to come. As you get older, you will

find that your working position is becoming more and more

important. The stand will ensure a comfortable working

position and a good working height; all maintenance is

carried out from the front. Convenient!

it really is this simple:

EASY ACCESSOn Värmebaronen’s wood-fired boilers, all ducts are swept

from just one hatch on the front. All hatches on the boiler

have a quick-release handle. No tools are required.

As the flue gas ducts are round, there are no awkward

corners to reach into when sweeping. You will be in a

comfortable working position and have complete control

over what you are doing.

Sweeping the flue gas ducts takes about half a minute. If

you have turbulators in the flue gas ducts, you can add

around a minute before you are done.

QUICK, SAFE AND CLEANTo avoid having to kneel while adding wood and raking

ashes, the boiler can be placed on a stand.

The stand includes a practical ash box which stores the

ashes safely. The ashes can be raked straight into the box,

preventing dirt from getting onto you and the floor.

Raking out the ashes takes no more than a minute.

LIGHTING THE FIRE REALLY IS THIS EASYLighting the boiler is done quickly. Place a small bundle of

sticks in the bottom and then fill the entire firebox with wood.

Using the LPG igniter supplied, you then light the fire

directly in about a minute. The fire establishes itself quickly,

giving environmentally friendly combustion in no time at all.

You also avoid having to wait for the bed of embers before

topping up the wood.

wood-fired boilers suction fan

THE LEAST DEMANDING CHIMNEY REQUIREMENTS

Thanks to the integrated fans, the Vedolux 30 and Vedolux

37 have some of the least demanding chimney require-

ments on the market. If you have a chimney with low

suction, these boilers are therefore an excellent choice.

The fan is of the suction type, which eliminates the risk of

drawing smoke into the house.

SUCTION FAN

The fan is started with a single press of a button when you

start firing. When the fire goes out, the fan will stop auto-

matically. This is important to ensure that the boiler does

not cool down, as this would reduce its efficiency.

50CM WOOD

Both boilers are designed for 50cm wood. They do not

have an integrated hot water heater, so it is important there

is a water heater in one of the accumulator tanks to which

they are connected.

A stand is available as an accessory and has a built-in ash

box for the safe storage of the ash.

POWER OUTPUT AND HATCHES – DIFFERENCES

In addition to the difference in power output, the boilers

also differ in terms of the type of hatch used. The Vedolux

37 uses the same type of hatch as the natural ventilation

boilers, with a removable plate for the pellet burner. The

Vedolux 30 is equipped with replaceable hatches instead.

WITH NATURAL VENTILATION OF COURSE

If you have a traditional chimney with sufficient height and

a suitable diameter pipe, the choice is simple – make use

of your chimney and choose a natural ventilation boiler! If

you are unsure, contact our heating advisors who will help

you with your questions.

All boilers are prepared for Viking Bio pellet burners.

VEDOLUX CU WITH HOT WATER HEATER

The best choice if you have accumulator tanks without

a hot water heater. The Vedolux CU has a substantial

copper-lined heater and a 57cm firebox depth and is

otherwise the same design as the Vedolux 40 & 50. Two

sockets for immersion heaters. Stand not available as an

accessory. Easy to fit pellet burner.

THE HEART OF YOUR HEATING SYSTEM

The cosy heat from your wood-fired boiler is stored in

one or more accumulator tanks. These tanks can contain

several thousand litres of water, depending on the heating

needs of the house. The accumulator tanks can also store

heat from other heat sources, such as solar panels, pellets

or heat pumps.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AND CONVENIENT

A modern wood-fired boiler is designed to operate at full

power at all times. This ensures efficient combustion and

minimal environmental impact. A control system ensures

that the accumulator tanks are charged optimally. This

greatly reduces firing frequency.

Aqualux accumulator tanksWELL-INSULATED AND COMPACT

Accumulator tanks must be well-insulated, take up little

space and, above all, be as flexible as possible. This

enables you to connect a number of different heat sources

at the same time, e.g. solar panels, pallets and/or heat

pumps. Solar panels are a good choice for anyone with a

wood-fired boiler, as they can produce heat and hot water

during the summer months. Convenient! Värmebaronen

also offers more basic accumulator tanks; see our cata-

logue for our range of accumulator tanks.

THE IDEAL TANK FOR WOOD/SOLAR POWER

Aqualux Teknik can handle a number of heat sources

simultaneously whilst maintaining stratification in the tank.

We believe the Aqualux Teknik is the only tank on the

market that can do this. This makes it unique and means

you save even more money on your heating bills. The

Aqualux Teknik features an integrated solar coil to transfer

heat from the solar panels. A large, copper-lined hot water

heater ensures there is plenty of hot water on tap.

The obvious choice when you want the best and to be

prepared for anything. You can connect any heat source

and combine heat sources as you wish. Unique functions

ensure that the vital stratification in the tank water remains.

This is essential for the efficient operation of an accumu-

lator tank.

ACKTANK CU/UB

Basic tanks without solar coils. When one heat source at a

time is used, these tanks have excellent stratification prop-

erties. Read more in the separate catalogue.

A GOOD TANK IS FUTURE-PROOF

Energy prices often fluctuate depending on supply and

on the decisions of politicians. It wasn’t that long ago that

mains powered electric radiators were recommended in all

new houses. It is therefore important to look forward and

make sure you are prepared for the future.

With the right accumulator tank, you can connect a variety

of heat sources and use them according to what is most

appropriate at any one time. Fire with wood when you

have the time and run the heat pump when you feel like

it. If the price of electricity soars, install a pellet burner in

the wood-fired boiler’s custom-made outlet. Pellets are

always cheap. In the spring, take a 6-month break from

using wood and let the solar panels produce the heat and

hot water.

It’s the tank that counts.

With solar panels, both you and your heating system can have six months’ rest. Of course, your time off will vary according to the weather and the type of house.

TAKE SIX MONTHS OF THE YEAR OFF WITH

SOLAR PANELS!

Forget about your heating from April to October. As a

wood-fired boiler owner, it’s nice not to have to plan when

to fire up the boiler for hot water for showers, baths and

dishwashing.

MANY ADVANTAGES

• Free energy from the sun means very low heating costs

• Minimal effort, boiler firing season halved

• No environmental impact

• Simple maintenance gives a high degree of comfort

FREE HOT WATER FOR SIX MONTHS OF THE

YEAR

With solar panels of the correct dimensions, you will only

need solar panels to produce hot water during the summer

months. This means you don’t have to fire up the boiler in

order to get hot water. Even in the north of Sweden, solar

panels produce sufficient heat. It is important to arrange for

a professional to determine the number and size of solar

panels on the accumulators.

MODERN BOILER WITH PROVEN TECHNOLOGY

Biomax gives you the freedom to choose your fuel

according to what you find most convenient and econom-

ical. The boiler works just as well using pellets as it does

with wood. The separate fireboxes make choosing your

energy source easy. The built-in 9kW boiler is also suffi-

cient for most homes.

COMPLETE FREEDOM

You can for example use wood during the spring

and autumn and pellets during the winter. During the

summer, you can use pellets or electricity for hot water.

You can choose what suits you best. When you don’t

want to use wood, pellets are still very economical.

The boiler’s integrated electric boiler is also available as

a backup.

SIMPLE WOOD-FIRING

The wood firebox is designed for reverse combustion with

ceramic grates and secondary combustion chamber in

the same way as our wood-fired boilers. In the case of

wood-firing, the Biomax must be connected to one or more

accumulator tanks.

CONVENIENT PELLET-FIRING

The Viking Bio pellet burner can always be left fitted to the

boiler. The burner hatch has a quick-release handle and

can be opened out so that the burner is suspended by the

side of the boiler. A removable ash box at the bottom of the

combustion chamber makes it easy to empty the boiler of

ash. The Biomax is of course environmentally approved.

WHAT ARE FUEL PELLETS?

Pellets are a biofuel that is manufactured from some form

of sawdust. The actual pelleting process is a method of

preserving and concentrating the material. The timber is

dried and pressed together to form a rod, which is then

divided up into short lengths.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The pellets are kept in a store which can be of varying

size. From there, the fuel is automatically fed by a screw

to a pellet burner. The pellet burner is thermostatically

controlled and starts and stops automatically. This method

gives convenient heating with little maintenance.

Fuel pellets

The rotating burner hatch and removable ash box make it easy to keep clean.
