powerTo decide whether you need a gas, diesel, or electric p ower plant, determine yourmill use. When you need po rtability, gas or diesel is your answer. Wood-Mizer offersthe world’s best engines with a p roven track record of per forming in climatesfound in North America. For stationary applications, electric motor mills provide thebest results. Compared to gas or diesel, they are less expensive to purchase, operate,and maintain. Electric mills are also quieter, cleaner, and have a longer life.

There are two main things to look for when you are determining the sawmill operation:Feed System and Operator Control Location.

Feed sy tem is how you move the sawmill head through the cut. Wood-Mizer modelsfall into one of three types: push, crank, or electronic. With the push feed system youeasily move the head through the cut, keeping a steady pace. The crank feed systemfeatures a hand crank that you turn, allowing the head to travel smoothly down thetrack. The advanced electronic feed system uses an electronic motor to automaticallypower the head down the log.

er tor Control Loc tion is where you are positioned when you operate thesawmill. With Wood-Mizer, you have more choices and more freedom. You canchoose which operator location you desire based on your mill selection. The basicmanual mills are limited to pushing or cranking, but operator locations options areunprecedented with the larger Wood-Mizer mills. Just determine if you want towalk or ride and stay close to the cut, be able to move around wirelessly, or use anoperator station that is movable or stationary.

W lk- long – The walk-along operating position gives you awatchful eye over the quality of your cut, any possibleobstacles, the cutting speeds, and blade performance.Walk-along controls are standard on all models, b ecause

sometimes there is no substitute for being there.

Ride- long – The ride-along seat travels with the sawmillhead controls, giving you the same visibility and benefits ofwalking but without the steps. Mills with ride-alongcontrols bring convenience and efficiency to your op eration.Ideal for a two-person sawing team.This option can b e added to a ny LT40-LT70 model mill.

Wirele Remote He d Control – Use the WirelessRemote option to manage all the basic head control functions(up/down, forward /reverse, blade guide arm, debarker, & blade engage/disengagement) from any practical viewingdistance. This selection gives you the freedom to movearound the mill as the blade is making the cut, to betterview the cutting process from all angles.

When you choose the Wireless Remote, the controls are at your fingertips, but you canalso use the traditional walk-along function or add the optional operator seat. With theWireless Remote, you get maximum versatility and flexibility.This option is ava ilable for all LT40 Super, LT50, & LT70 non-remote models.Must be ordered at time of purchase of the original sawmill (not retrofittable.)

Comm nd Control – The Command Control puts you at afixed location at the front of the mill and gives you the ability to

A log infeed deck, an inclined conveyor, and a transfer table act as several extra setsof hands to help sawyers quickly and safely get to the finished product.

With the durability and strength of industrial mill products, this system is builtto absorb the shock, strain, and stress of heavy log and lumber handling.

Industrial Material Handling System

Transfer Tablep rt #: D2 $8,395When a board moves to the transfer table,the operator can either move the cutpiece onto a conveyor or storage area orlet the board travel down a roller table tobe stopped and held. This table’s uniquedesign eliminates chains, gears, and evenan electric motor. It can be adjusted forright or left-hand use and simply requiresstandard shop air and 110 V AC.

Thedeck is equipped with a stop-loader, which ensuresthat logs are loaded one at a time.

LT70 High Product ion Sawmill

LT70 is one of the top performing portable mills in the world. The LT70 with 55HPdiesel features the most advanced log handling hydraulics including hydraulicloading arms, a pair of hydraulic roller toeboards, and a hydraulic load clamp. Inclined Conveyorp rt #: C2-s $7,295This inclined conveyor literally replaces anextra person working on the mill. The inclinedconveyor works in tandem with the deluxeboard return system on the LT70. As the boardis pulled back off the cut, it moves to theconveyor and off of the mill, eliminating theneed for an extra person to move each board.It is effective and cost efficient, removing slabs,flitches, and boards with ease, and allowing theoperator to quickly begin the next cut.

The thin-kerf, portable bandsaw mill industry that is known today began withthe passion and ingenuity of two men: Don Laskowski and Dan Tekulve. In1980, they owned a company that built a line of woodworking products including small shop bandsaw. This simple saw accurately cut thin wafers from blocksof wood that were 8” tall with a small 1/8” blade and a 3/4HP motor.

With a constant eye on innovation, the business par tners considered thepossibility of simply adding horsepower, widening the blade, and building abed with a track allowing a cutting head to travel the length of a log to sawboards off the top of the log. At the time, college textbooks on logging andsawmilling said it would take a 3”-6” wide blade and a hundred horsepowerto accurately cut two foot wide hardwood boards, but Don and Dan believedthat a smaller and more efficient design could work. They were right. The firstprototype mill sawed accurate 24” wide boards that were so thin you couldsee the shadow of your hand when you held it up to the light.

The passion and ingenuity that started Wood-Mizer is still present today.Each year, the company invests millions of dollars in research, developmentand product testing.
