Ontrax

The Concept Click systemConcept Click is a system of pre-mounted spring steel fixing clips that grasp specially profiled battens in a simple push-on “click” action.

The designer conceives his or her own sequence using the available elements. Woodform then indexes and rivets the clips to the Ontrax according to the sequence specified by the designer.

Batten Sizes

Our aluminium battens can be creatively combined in any sequence with our standard timber batten sizes. Custom aluminium sizes are also available for large commercial projects on enquiry.

Longer Lengths

Unlike sawn timber, which has size limitations determined by the maximum log length of tree species, timber-veneered aluminium can be uniformly manufactured to be as long as 6 metres.

Weight

Aluminium battens are hollow, so they are lighter without compromising strength. Battens made out of aluminium can be 10 times lighter than solid timber battens of the equivalent size.

Visual Grading and Material Efficiency

Because timber veneer is a very thin slice shaved from a section of wood, a superior piece of timber can yield thousands of square metres of veneer with consistent, replicable visual grading.

Applications

SUITABLE FOR INTERIORS ONLY, our aluminium battens wrapped in timber veneer can be used on walls or ceilings.

Fire Rating

Solid timber can attain a Group 3 fire rating (under BCAC1.10A), but there is currently no coating application in Australia that will elevate it to a Group 1 or 2, whereas timber-veneered aluminium can be accredited with a Group 1 rating.

Maintenance

Remove dust from the surface of veneered battens by wiping with a soft, dry cloth or a slightly moist chamois in the direction of the wood grain. Washing-up liquid can be added to the water, but do not use other cleaning and scouring agents, as well as microfibre cloths.

Fill minor scratches and scuffs with any wood filler in the shade of the veneer and then coat with a matching lacquer. Detached veneer can be glued back on with wood glue or adhesive.

Movement and Straightness

Relative humidity does not make aluminium expand or contract like it does with timber, meaning it is fundamentally more stable and better retains its original alignment.

End Caps

To achieve seamless-looking battens, we designed veneered aluminium end caps. By applying the same veneer to the face of the endcap, these end caps ensure your aluminium battens are perceived as a continuous, solid piece of timber. These endcaps can be powdercoated in any colour.

Back Plate

To conceal the rear section of the batten and to further enhance the impression of a solid piece of timber, timber-veneered aluminium back plates can easily be snapped onto the back of battens.

Corner Finish

Our corner finishes are powder coated or anodised to blend evenly with the timber veneer of the aluminium batten.
