Work based education refers to connection of classroom with workplace

Division among the general, technical and vocational education and training is diminishing

Work based education helps students for transition from school setting to work environment

Need for judicious mixture of vocational and academic skills

Students are better able to learn and retain academic and technical skills

Experience becomes a meaningful and engaging educational opportunity

Training helps people to do multi-task

Challenge is to make education system flexible

Same as Ashrama or Gurukula

Mahatma Gandhi’s Basic Education

Gandhi proposed the introduction of basic education

According to Gandhi “Literacy in itself is no education”

There are 4 components of basic education

iii. Heaith iv. Education

Restructuring of educational system 10+2+3
