    Draw an organization chart of the area of the firmyou are working in. Show clearly what eachpersons job is, what they are responsible for; andwho they are responsible to.

    DAY 4: Selection, Recruitment and Training

    Today is a good day to talk to your employer and for him/herto interview you.

    Remember to make an appointment beforehand.

    It is of course up to your employer when/if it can be fitted in.

    1. What jobs are there for school leavers?

    2. What entry requirements are there?

    3. What training does the firm give?

    4. How are jobs advertised?5. How would someone joining the firm straight from school

    progress?

    6. Draw a plan with what training and qualifications orexperience you would need at each stage.

    A card with a small gift -some chocolates or biscuits showsyour appreciation.

    Probably a number of people were kind enough to help you.They would appreciate a letter passing on your thanks, and

    saying what you enjoyed in particular. Your school may wish to send other students to the same

    employer next year, and your letter will encourage theemployer to accept them.

    It is good practice to learn how to write a business letter,

    using the correct layout, punctuation and spelling, and neathandwriting.

    Make a draft of your letter and show it to your counselor ifyou need help (a sample is provided in the manual).

    Your good manners will be appreciated.
