As information become increasingly digitazed, how will building addressed to the change? Located in the suburban area of San Luis Obispo, between downtown andairpoint, Cerro Library seeks to bring communities together.Public space serves as a transitional space for people of all communities and backgrounds to gather, aiding the break through of social barrier in process.

Located at Forest Knolls, the project site sits on a steep hill that overlooks the city. Sited at San Francisco, the unit size is 25 feet wide. Due to the foggy, cold climate andhillside scenery, light and view is the major design factor in addition to the he middle class and UCSF college student population The floor plan and stairway aims to openthe building. The uilding materials define and represent the 2 units and function as an invitating elements. The ood and transparent material also reflects its climate of woodyhill land and translucent fogs.

The brighter, upper unit draws in users with its earthly wood veneer entrance. The darker, lowerunit welcomes its user with a tall glass entrance. Its acrylic stair draws the eyes to the lower unit

and greets users at the end with a large window of hillside scenery.

Project criteria asked for a green affordable home in New Orlean after Hurricane Katrina. We aimed for a comfortable, lasting home where users can modifiy surroundingand create community space. Project finished with LEED score of 86.5 - scoring 6.5 points above LEED Platinum requirement.Interdisciplinary team includes students in: Structure Engineering (Kevin Irwin), Mechanical Engineering (Kristin Dills), Construction Management (Caitlin Hickey) LandscapeArchitecture (Shannon Minnis, Kasey Trangsrud), and Architecture (Simone Bundang, Amy Chan). Page 10: Work Sample

Two part project that starts with developing a new masterplan in a team. The new masterplan was done based on existing grid of city with a goal to rejuvenate site throughgreen areas and pedestrian-friendly paths. From the new masterplan, students individually select a site for their own landmark building. Location is a redevelopment site onChina Basin of San Francisco.Members included Amy Chan, Helen To, David Watkins, Fernando Perez, and Colby Reece. Team masterplan graphic by Helen To.
