Many of the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes packed in North Tex-as travel to Ecuador Here is some information about this country and how God is working through our shoeboxes Shoebox gifts collected in the United States in 2017 will be delivered to 402866 children in Ecua-dor Praise God that 2321058 children have received a shoebox since 1997 when Operation Christmas Child began distributing gifts here Ec-uador has 16 million people and is located in northwestern South Amer-ica 27 of the population is 14 years old or younger

Every Item Chosen by GodAt a distribution in Quito they put on an evangelistic show for kids They started to line up the kids to hand out the boxes A volunteer noticed a boy 6 or 7-years-old His shoes were torn and she could see his toes through the shoes She wanted to make sure he got a special spot and started plan-ning to give him one of the bigger boxes thinking that he needed as much as possi-ble in his box At the end of the presenta-tion she was looking for a big box to give him and hoping that someone else wouldnrsquot give him a box before she could give him a really big one But someone beat her to it and he ended up with a really small box She thought ldquoHe needs so much but he didnrsquot get a lotrdquo When he opened the box there were 2 pairs of socks a pack of crayons and a couple other items ldquoI thought this boy needed a lot and only got a few items But when he saw the socks he screamed lsquoI have socks I have socksrsquo He was so happyrdquo

MUSIC AND WORSHIP MINISTRIES

Holy Week is fast approaching What a glorious time of remembrance and renewal we experience during this high-sea-son of the church year at Trinity Plan now to attend both our Maundy Thursday Service and our Good Friday Service

Maundy Thursday is the traditional name for the fifth day of Holy Week From the Latin mandatum meaning lsquoman-datersquo the church annually recalls the ldquonew commandmentrdquo given by Christ to his disciples this night of the institution of the Lordrsquos Supper We in like kind will celebrate Holy Communion during this hour of worship Additionally we will observe the tradition of Foot-washing an act of servitude ndash based upon the example Jesus imparted to his first disciples Our Contemporary Worship Team will lead music for this special service of remembrance

The Good Friday Service is a solemn ceremony intended to recall and retrace the grave events on the day of Jesusrsquo crucifixion The story of the passion of Christ is read from the Gospels in a dramatic retelling The power of music singing deep-rooted hymns of the faith and silence will aid us as we ponder the depth of Christrsquos suffering through a progression of darkness In addition to powerful anthems led by our Chancel Choir and Chamber Singers we will be drawn by Scripture to a renewed understanding of the sacrificial acts taken by our Lord Jesus as he bore our grief upon the cross

The Maundy Thursday Service will take place March 29 at 7pm The Good Friday service will follow on March 30 at 7pm Both services will be held in the Sanctuary
