November has brought the cold! Hello All,
I hope this letter finds everyone well and looking forward to the holidays. The Chamber has been very busy working on all the items that are left to do on our calendar for the remainder of 2019.
Our next venture will be our Awards Banquet / Dinner, at Berea Church of God, on November 14th this month and then our Christmas Parade in December, which is on the 7th.
My term is winding down and it seems that we have gotten started with several items that needs to be done. Our By-laws need to be looked at and some changes need to be made and a few updates need to be addressed.
Time needs to be spent looking at all committees and what charges need to be made for each of them. Our chamber is a great organization, but we need to get our member-ship more involved and see that all the businesses in our great City of Berea is well represented.
There needs to be time spent on looking at the budget for 2020 and how we can make an increase in the financial soundness. Everyone works hard, but maybe we need to also work smarter and look for new and refreshing ideal that many of our membership may want to share, in a brainstorming session.
I am proud to be a member of the Berea Chamber of Commerce and each of us who are members need to talk to new people and get our business community joining our ventures. I do want to thank all of you who gave your time and effort to making the Spoonbread a great success this year, for signing up to work on committees, attending membership meetings and most of all our board meetings. It is so important to have a quorum, at each meeting. No business items can be decided without it.
Please mark your calendars, when David sends out meeting announcements and try to attend. It is very important that we all attend, if at all possible. If nothing else it keeps everyone informed of what is going on and something to talk about with other business-es.
Have a great rest of November.
Sincerely,

Chamber Board of Directors Election
As we begin closing out the year, it is time to conduct our annual Chamber Board of Directors election. We have traditionally had 24 Board members that make up our Board with approximately 1/3 elected each year for a three (3) year term. However, we have recently down-sized the Chamber Board from 24 to 17 members in an effort to have a better turnout for our monthly meetings and make it easier to establish a quorum. We still will strive to represent a broad cross section of our local busi-ness community that make up Berea’s economy. Please watch your mail as ballots will mail in mid Novem-ber and will need to be promptly returned to the chamber office in order to be counted. Please exercise your right to vote!
Sincerely,
David
