Dear Family and Friends of Holy Cross, It is time to celebrate our 2014 graduates at Holy Cross. God has gifted Holy Cross with many dear youth, and it’s always a joy to watch their God-given gifts and talents grow among us (even though we feel dated as we see them grow). Katy Platt graduated from Clarence High. She recently attended freshman orientation and registered for fall classes at the University of Vermont. Katy’s intended major is medical lab science, and she hopes for a career in public health research. Her interests include playing the ukulele, arcade gaming, and just hanging out with friends. Sophia Handley graduated from SMOK’s Christian Academy. Sophie will be attending NCCC for applied science and math, looking to a career as either a mechanical engineer or a mathematics professor. Sophie loves robotics, reading and spending time with family. Congratulations, both of you! As you continue to develop your God-given talents and abilities, may you do so with the words of Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him , and He will make straight your paths (ESV).” In Jesus, Pastor Randy Rozelle Great Worship, Outreach & Fellowship Opportunity for the Entire Family!!! If you are or will be hospitalized or homebound and desire Christian care from the Holy Cross staff please phone the church office at 634-2332 and/or email Pastor Randy at [email protected] and let us know. Please do not assume that we know your situation because for many reasons we often don’t. We will do our best to visit you, and if homebound, bring you communion once per month. June Council Update:

First off, thanks to everyone who was able to make the Voter’s meeting on June 1st. Turnout was great; but in case you missed it, here are the highlights: We were all saddened by Diana Zubrzycki’s resignation as Financial Secretary due to family health issues and we all pray for Holy Spirit’s comfort to be on their family. But Diana isn’t going away, as she will continue to help our new Financial Secretary Susan Brooks. Susan was appointed by the Council during our May meeting and we thank her for jumping in and filling the breach. Speaking of finances, our Treasurer, John Zachau, gave us a mid-year report and in summary Holy Cross continues to be blessed financially and everything is tracking to our proposed budget. There have been some unexpected ups and downs, but they are mostly cancelling each other out. And due to the help from some generous donations, we have been able to reduce our outstanding debt on the loan for the addition and new roof, to the point where we hope to pay off this loan by the end of the year. Anyone interested should see John or any council member for a more detailed report. And our Vice-President, Sam Gugliuzza, announced the roll out of the “Joyful Response” program. With John Zachau’s help, Holy Cross is now set up to accept automatic bank transfers from members wishing to tithe electronically. Please see Sam for more information or how to enroll in this program. There is still a lot more going on, not covered here, so we remind you to see any council member for questions or concerns and the invitation is always open for anyone looking for more

opportunities to help serve in the church. Thanks

Holy Cross Joins the Joyful Response

Program:

Tired of writing a check every Sunday? (Tired of having to pay for more blank checks?) Holy Cross is pleased to announce that we have joined the Lutheran Church Extension Society’s “Joyful Response” program. This automatic banking system enables Holy Cross members and friends to use electronic banking for their donations. The donor can select any amount for their donation, and have this done at whatever frequency the donor desires. This system even allows donors to designate their gift to established restricted funds, (e.g. Dream Fund or Building Fund, etc..). Best of all, the LCES does not take any fees or commissions for doing this. Please feel free to see any council member if you have questions. Enrollment forms are in the narthex, and for your privacy, completed forms should be returned to our Financial Secretary, Susan Brooks. Thanks for considering!

Heritage Home

We continue to feature the Genesis 1 & 2 Bible story of creation over the summer at our July 27 and August 24 visits to the Heritage Home. It is a wonderful time of talk about the beauty of what we see outside the Home’s windows and from its patio and from the vans’ windows on the way to their workshops and jobs. We sing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” and make a quick craft to expand upon the stories. Include this mission as we share our Lord’s love in your thoughts and prayers. --- Alfrieda, Ron and Margaret Habitat Buffalo

Habitat will hold an 80-mile motorcycle dice run on Saturday, August 16, beginning at the Armor Inn in Hamburg. Call the Habitat office for more information at 204-0740 x 105 or check the website at www.habitatbuffalo.org.
