► McCoy House
(http://www.owensmccoyhouse.com/)
• Historical house built in 1840
• Known structural issues addition
• Scanned exterior with a Faro Focus
• Used Microstation to show elevation bases on ACS to
show deviation in walls

7
► Visual Explorer
• Flashlight Mode – Provides a perception of depth
► Highlighted area is larger the further away the cursor
is
• Cross Section Mode – Uses a 3D cylinder to highlight
points
Using Point Clouds in Descartes
8
► 3D Line Following
• Used to trace things such as striping
• Designed to be used with Intensity Presentation Style
Using Point Clouds in Descartes (Cont.)
9
► Snap Element
• Used to snap an existing element to a point cloud
• Works similar to Drape tool but does not add vertices
based on points

► Fit Cylinder
• Used to fit a cylinder to a point cloud
• Typically used for extracting pipes

► Model by Section
• Create section
• Create template
• Place template at each section interval
