2What is a Netbook? Designed to be a cheaper and more accessible laptop for use anywhere Less processing power but can still do 95% of what you use a computer for Retails starting at $299 More fragile and especially fragile with the screen/monitor

3Orientation/Handling of the ComputersSit with backs to the screen.Make sure nothing sits under the netbook on your desk.Do not move the desk with a netbook on it.The Netbook is very small and fairly fragile:Do not move the desk with a netbook on it.Never grab the netbook by the top screen, it is the most fragile and expensive part.It can be easy to tip over.

4Checking Out the NetbooksNeed two student tech leaders to be responsible for checkout and checkin, especially when a teacher is not present.Do not plug-in or plug-out the netbooks.All the slots are named after authors, books, characters, or discoveries.Come up in a single file line, by your netbook numbers or wait for the tech leaders to call you.Carry the netbook with two hands to your desk.

5With the ComputersListening vs. looking at the computer.If you have an issue, you will do it on paper and lose computer privileges.Appropriate Net Usage, be school appropriate (stay positive and respect others work)Moodle keeps a record of everything you wrote or do.We can email your parents what you wrote with the click of a button.Do Not ChatNetbook security: if these computers leave the site, they will automatically turn off in 30 days or lessMake sure there is at least ten minutes at the end of period to save work, check in laptops, and return desks.

6Checking-In the NetbooksMake sure you saved your work. Make sure you submit in the Moodle.Two tech helpers will collect and put your netbook into the right slot.

7We are Special and ResponsibleWe got the most money for technology of any middle school in San Diego county.We got the second most money of any middle schools in Southern California. These are difficult times for many people, 22% under and unemployment.Schools will be cutting.Be positive, bring a goodattitude even when technologydoesnt work perfectly, andsupport your fellow classmates.

8Online Safety and RulesConsequences:Using the netbooks is a privilege that you can lose quickly.First time, lose for the dayMore than once you will not use until parent is contacted and signs agreementThird time, done for good.

The Dont List:Dont alter the netbook to any personal settings. Dont cyberbullyDont use inappropriate language, pictures, videos, music or Dont surfing randomly if its not related to classwork

Computers automatically disable in less than 30 days if they are taken off-campus.
