    Why are you giving the presentation?

    What do you want to accomplish? What do you want your audience to do with the information?

    Have you used only the information the audience can absorb?

    Have you condensed your presentation into its key points? Have you planned the presentation to fit in the allotted time? Have you selected information relevant and appropriate for your audi-

    ence?

    Is the organization clear?

    Have you begun the presentation with a preview? Have you used transitions? Have you summarized the presentation in the conclusion? Have you prepared note cards or speaker notes?

    Are your visual aids audience-oriented?

    Have you selected the appropriate media for your presentation, youraudience, and the room?

    Does each visual aid have a specific purpose? Does each visual aid contain information relevant to your audience and

    to your key points?

    Are the visual aids legible? Can everyone in the audience read the visu-al aidseven those seated at the back of the room?

    Have you used backgrounds that enhance reading? Do any of the back-grounds make the visual aids hard to read?

    Have you used brief phrases rather than sentences? Is each visual aid free of errors in style and grammar? Does each visual aid contain accurate, correct information? Does each visual aid represent you and your organization in a positive,

    professional manner?

    Are you ready for the presentation?

    Have you rehearsed your presentation using the visual aids and equip-ment?

    Have you timed the presentation? Did it fit in the allotted time? If not,have you decided what to delete from the presentation?

    Have you checked out the room and its equipment? Have you practiced setting up the equipment? Have you prepared notes? Are the notes numbered? Are you prepared to field questions from the audience? Are you prepared for emergencies?
