In honor to Saint-Malo's maritime and sailing history of being an old harbor city the park itself represents part of the this tradition. The lightness and airiness but also the heaviness and regularity of this old town.

The light way of heavy.

The pavilion which is in the upper level of the eye represent the lightness of the sea, ships and ship sails which surround the city dock. The benches, trash bins, and flower vases show the stability and security of the fortressed city center with the heavy stone walls.

Colours, shapes and materials of this exterior furniture in the same time represent the historic and epic side of the city but with a contemporary touch. Taking in considera-tion the city colors and weather of the area a specific type of metal is being used with subtile shadings.

To bring light into this park at night, discreet lightning are implemented above flower bins and city lamps are placed arround the park to playfully illuminate the area.In the playgrounds, bench surfaces evolve and explain the main parts and elements of the original shape in the way of providing children an interesting place to play.

Weathering steel, best-known under the trademark COR-TEN steel is a group of steel alloys which were developed to eliminate the need for painting, and form a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to the weather for several years. "Weathering" means that due to their chemical compositions, these steels exhibit increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to other steels. This is because the steel forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather.

ETFE is a fluorine based plastic, is designed to have high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range. ETFE is a polymer and has a very high melting temperature, excellent chemi-cal, electrical and high energy radiation resistance properties.
