Conclusions: The workshop provided an important forum to

bring together some of the key players in CSP in Turkey and

internationally, have them share their experiences and visions,

and to create a network of CSP professionals in Turkey. Turkey

was painted as an emerging CSP market. Several recent

initiatives were discussed ranging from Research, Technology

Development, and Innovation (RTDI) to the first commercial

introduction of existing CSP technologies. While these initiatives

tend to be nascent, they indicate the potential for a vibrant CSP

market in Turkey in the near future. The workshop was effective

at introducing key researchers and policy makers to STE/CSP,

and raising awareness and support for CSP in general and EU-

SOLARIS specifically.

Next Steps: METU GUNAM followed-up on the workshop by

hosting meetings for the EU-SOLARIS Executive and Project

Management Committees in Turkey in March 2014, which

included using the network developed through this workshop to

introduce the EU-SOLARIS consortium to a start-up CSP

company in Turkey, and thereby foster industry relations between

EU-SOLARIS and Turkish CSP companies. Subsequently METU

GUNAM also wrote a proposal to fund the first significant

investments in Concentrating Solar Thermal research facilities in

Turkey, and is using the support and network generated through

workshop to facilitate and promote this project.
