World Food Day
World Food Day is a collaborative effort to fight hunger, first organized by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in the late 1970s. The day was first acknowledged on October 16, 1981. Since its establishment, World Food Day has been accepted and supported internationally, with multiple efforts to promote awareness, organize events and campaigns, and create solidarity and cooperation in the battle against hunger.
Conclusion
Global themes have been explored throughout the years during World Food Day, among them food and environment, fishing communities, poverty in rural areas, women in agricultural pursuits, food security, and malnutrition. Since 1984, a teleconference also has taken place each year, with guest speakers including prominent politicians, ambassadors, authors, executives, columnists, and correspondents.
