It gives me an immeasurable amount of joy to see what World Wide Trekking has become over the years. What began as

a one-man operation has become an international outfit with a global network of operators. It starts with our local offices

in Salt Lake City, Utah and reaches across the world, sharing unforgettable adventures with our guests. My greatest thrill

is witnessing my guests accomplishing their goals. I have found the true essence of guiding others and I love it.

After years of traveling, guiding, and participating in countless mountain rescues, I have developed a strict safety

standard. Our commitment to safety affects every aspect of our business, and we are proud to provide a safe and

rewarding experience to each and every guest.

One of the essential components to our success has been the formation of friendships with our overseas operations

managers. Each of our overseas operations managers is a trusted and knowledgeable friend with whom I have shared

many adventures and crafted special itineraries for World Wide Trekking. From Kilimanjaro to the Khumbu Valley, we

Dean is the founder of World Wide Trekking and the president and founder of Human Outreach Project. Dean has climbed and led expeditions in North America, Central America, Africa, Europe, South America, and the Himalayas, including summiting Mt. Everest in 2005. He is the former president of Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, U.S. representative to the International Commission of Alpine Rescue, an avalanche instructor with the American Avalanche Association, and an avalanche forecaster for Snowbird Ski Resort.

Ed ChaunerWWTrek Guide

Ed has taught skiing at Snowbird for three decades and is the most requested private instructor at the resort. He is the only instructor who also serves on ski patrol. He is certified by American Avalanche Association and in Outdoor Emergency Care; he also is a Wilderness First Responder. Ed is an experienced leader who has traveled to over 40 countries, trekked in the Spanish Pyrenees, Austrian Alps, and Italian Dolomites, and summited Kilimanjaro multiple times.

Tina spends her winters ski patrolling at Snowbird and summers working in the Colorado high country. Her passion for travel has led her to explore not only the West but the world: Turkey, Thailand, and New Zealand are among her favorites. She is certified by the American Avalanche Association and the American Mechanized Guide Association.

Brian is originally from New Jersey where he grew up ski racing. He moved to Utah to attend Westminster College in 2008, and initially got into guiding through backcountry skiing. In the winters, Brian works as a ski patroller for Snowbird Ski Resort, and as a ski guide/avalanche course instructor for Utah Mountain Adventures. Brian spends the rest of his year guiding in the North Cascades, in Alaska on Denali, and internationally on Kilimanjaro and in Nepal. Brian is also certified by the American Avalanche Association and has his OEC certification.

Geljen helps organize group treks, mountain climbs, and private tours for World Wide Trekking in Nepal and all of Asia. He has organized everything from Khumbu treks to expeditions to the top of the world. Geljen Sherpa is an Everest summiteer and understands the demands of hard work, perseverance, and community. Geljen has been instrumental in establishing contacts for Human Outreach Project (HOP), including family members of children in remote Himalayan villages. He is a HOP board member.

Raymond MassaeTanzania Operations Manager & Guide

Raymond is a professional educator and integral leader in our efforts in Africa. He has more than 15 years of experience in the African tourism industry and helps organize all of our logistics for group treks and safaris. He works to organize all local endeavors, oversee operational details, and mentor the African staff. Raymond is a member of the governing board of HOP and plays a critical role in guiding HOP community service. Raymond holds a degree in education and uses his expertise to help the Tanzanian people.

Bryan Wilbert QuispePeru Operations Manager & Guide

Bryan was born in a colonial town just outside Cusco. Bryan learned many things from his family, who are descendants of the Inca extended family (panaka tumibamba). They loved leading people to all tourist attractions and were avid hikers and trekkers, even in the most remote places, unknown by other tour guides. As the Peru Operations Manager for WWTrek, Bryan’s specialty is to provide personalized service with a depth of knowledge of the flora, wildlife, traditions, language, and routes in Peru.

Marcos CouchArgentina/Chile Operations Manager & Guide

Marcos organizes and guides trips for World Wide Trekking in Argentina and Chile. He is an International Federation of Mountain Guides Association certified guide who has accomplished many first ascents and summited peaks worldwide. His expert experience includes multiple summits on Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, and California’s El Capitan; establishing and leading new routes on Fitz Roy; daring kayak descents in Patagonia; and first ascents in his home mountains of Bariloche, Argentina.

Diego Cumbajin ParraEcuador Operations Manager & Guide

Diego was born and raised in the village of El Pedregal (11,482 ft), near Cotopaxi National Park. His father, Pedro, was one of the first mountain guides in Ecuador, and Diego followed in his footsteps to become an expert guide and trekker. He is a licensed naturalist and a native guide for six protected areas, including Cotopaxi National Park, Sangay National Park, the Llaganates, and Boliche Recreation Area. During high season, Diego typically climbs Cotopaxi 2–3 times a week and has summited several South American peaks.

Michele has a background in adventure travel, as well as experience as an office administrator. She has been a dedicated paraglider pilot for 15 years, and after traveling the world to compete and teach, she is back in Utah. Michele taught paragliding in Pokhara, Nepal and was drawn to our office by the prayer flags waving outside. Her adventures in Nepal included trekking to Annapurna Base Camp and working with Blue Sky Paragliding and the Parahawking project. She has also taught flying extensively in Colombia and throughout the USA. Anelise NolandMarketing

Anelise has a background in marketing, photography, video, and graphic design. Raised in Oregon, she loves the mountains and the outdoors. Anelise received her bachelor’s degree in marketing and minored in Spanish and video editing at Ohio State University. She returned West to Utah for the world-renowned skiing. She has spent her career in marketing and ski photography and has traveled to several countries, including having lived in Spain. She also loves skiing, mountain biking, her dog, and organizing everything.

Crystal PainterGuest Relations Manager

Crystal is an avid adventurer. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and minor in Physics from the University of Redlands. In 2011, Crystal lived in Kenya and Tanzania doing field research for wildlife management. Her research resulted in a published article analyzing the effects and implications of hunting pressure on bush animals in areas with differing levels of protection. Crystal has also lived in the island nation of Palau, in Micronesia, working as a kayak guide. She is the head lacrosse coach for the University of Utah Women’s club team. She enjoys climbing and skiing in Utah while working at WWTrek sharing her passion for wilderness travel.

Sandra TurayStaff WriterSandra Turay began working as our staff writer in 2013. She alternates her seasons between guiding Utah’s rivers in the summer and working at Snowbird Ski Resort in the winter. Sandra has a degree in Ethnic Studies and a minor in Journalism. She is a volunteer for the Human Outreach Project and International Refugee Center, SLC. Her love for people, nature, and travel keeps her wandering the globe in search of adventure! Most recently she served as an English Language Improvement Advisor for the Peace Corps in Ethiopia.

Jay DashStaff Photographer

Originally from the east coast, Jay moved to Utah to embrace a lifestyle that is built around the outdoors and mountains. His passion for the outdoors is only exceeded by his passion for photography. Jay spends most of his time as a freelance photographer working on various projects in the outdoor industry including work for ski, snowboard & apparel companies. He is an avid landscape photographer and spends many sunrises and sunsets in the Wasatch mountains. His background also includes work at Snowbird Ski Resort where he is a private photographer and does family portrait work in the off season.
