What is sustainability? If something is sustainable it should last forever. To

sustain something is to keep and support it for the future.

Sustainable living is living in a way in which we can continue to do so, as if we are going to live forever. Currently, if everyone in the world lived like the average person, we would need three planet earths!

To support and sustain our world we need to keep it as healthy as possible by protecting and sustaining wildlife, plants, ecosystems and habitats because all these things are connected and they each need each other for support. After all, animals wouldn’t survive without the right habitat, and a habitat wouldn’t be the same without the animals.

Why sustainability is an important concept? Sustainability is an important concept to consider in the

redevelopment on Wentworth Point. If the building is not sustainable it will not last and people may choose not to live in it. The building should work with the built and natural environment that surrounds the building. Sustainability is a word that means the ability to be sustained or to endure.

If the environment in a certain area, or even as a whole, is sustainable, it must be able to thrive. Environmental sustainability takes into account the people living within an environment and their capacity to survive as a species within that environment. Sustainability is vital, because it has to do with the ability to continue on. If something doesn't have that, then it will eventually fade away, or disappear.

process is the very first stage, the concept. It really needs to be considered what the solutions are and whether there will impact on the environment.

Ways to a more sustainable home!

Solution 1: The first solution is installing a hot-water solar system. This is beneficial and sustainable in the fact that it saves water and it is good for the environment. It uses natural heat from the sun to heat the water. It also saves the consumer money.

Solution 2: The second solution is using lights efficiently. This involves turning lights off when you are leaving the room and using solar efficient lights that save energy.

Solution 3: The third solution consists of keeping chickens in the back yard. This allows for consumers to produce their own eggs which will be cheaper than in the shops. It saves the consumer eggs and they get to sell or eat them.

a friendly and inviting place. It is safe and blends in with the environment.

2. The use of big windows in the house allow for natural air-flow and natural light to travel in the house

Why this design? I have chosen my building design as I feel it best

represents the feel of friendly, environmentally-friendly and creative. The buildings allows for all ages. There is a playground for younger kids, seating for the elderly and benches for those just wanting to sit down.

The building is modern with the simple choice of different colored and textured wood. The building offers large amounts of solar panels to prevent people in the building to be using large amounts of electricity. The building also has a large solar windmill. This is a back-up for extra power and it helps save the environment. It also fits in with the brief of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building.
