For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.

Fr. Pitre re-turned last weekend after his successful completion of comprehensive exams in Rome. He is now an STL, which means he
has a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.), a two-year Roman Catholic ecclesiastical degree in advanced theo-logical study. In lay terms, he has re-ceived his masters degree in theolo-gy! It allows the laity, clergy and reli-gious to further their expertise and serve in official capacities in parishes, dioceses, higher education, schools and seminaries. Congratulations, Father Pitre! Pro-Life Baby Bottle Campaign This weekend our parish is participat-ing in the "Baby Bottle Campaign," which will help support our lo-cal pregnancy resource center, the state licensed maternity home for
homeless and pregnant women, and a boutique which provides necessary items for pregnant mothers and chil-dren needing assistance. Together, these services provide the woman with pregnancy testing, consultation, ultra-sound imaging, chastity education, food, shelter, clothing and anything necessary a mother and baby need to start a new life. Unfortunately, even in a country as prosperous as ours, many times women consider and choose to end a pregnancy because of the lack of financial and emotional resources. One way for us to not only say we are pro-life but also to concretely support life is to help provide the resources necessary for these mothers and children to choose and celebrate a new life in a dignified and nurturing environ-ment. Services are free of charge to the woman and children in need and are provided by the DesOrmeaux Founda-tion. We thank the DesOrmeaux Foun-dation for the wonderful work that they do, and pray for the continued success of their ministries. Baby bottles will be available after all Masses this
weekend and can be returned the fol-lowing weekend with a dona-tion. Please be generous to this most worthwhile cause. All Souls Day This year, we will try something a little different in honor of All Souls Day and remembering those who have gone before us. The official All Souls Day Mass will be Saturday, November 2nd at the regularly scheduled 7:30 a.m. Mass. We will be collecting the names of those who passed away dur-ing the last year and will remember them in the Mass Intentions that day. To have your loved ones remembered at this Mass, parishioners may submit the names of those who have passed between November 1, 2018 and Octo-ber 1, 2019. Please submit their names by October 15th either via email ([email protected]) or phone (337-232-4656). We hope for this to become an annual devotion for our dearly departed in the years to come!

This weekend the St. Pius X Knights of Columbus once again sponsors its annual Pro-Life Baby Bottle Campaign. Please take a baby bottle home with you today and return it next weekend with a generous donation to support the pro-life efforts of the DesOrmeaux Foundation. Since 1999, this Foundation has provided much needed services to women of Acadiana, who find themselves in an unplanned preg-nancy without the financial & emotional support they need. All donations remain right here in Lafayette, enabling the Foundation to continue in its mission of assisting mothers and preserving the lives of the unborn.
