INSPIRING AND INFORMATIVE CATHOLIC CD’S — ONLY $3 EACH! AVAILABLE IN THE DISPLAY IN THE
GATHERING SPACE.
The Bib le Made Me Do I t : Tim Staples was raised Baptist and served as an Assembly of God youth minister. He used his extensive biblical knowledge to attack the Catholic Church but when he was challenged on his beliefs, a two-year search for truth led him right to Catholicism. Now he uses that same incredible gift to defend the Faith and help others to embrace the beauty and richness of Catholicism.

ADVENT HOSPITALITY REFLECTION
“The Advent scriptures are bursting with stories of hospitality. The Annunciation, the Visita-tion, and the Incarnation are all tales about making room for the Lord and for God’s people. The songs of the season also evoke this eminently human and divine quality. We dream of being home for Christmas and imagine chestnuts roasting on an open fire. The holidays do not make this task easy, however, for no season is more adept at stirring up old wounds and surfacing petty resentments that bounce around inside us during family dinners and seasonal parties. The ministry of hospitality requires preparation. If we are to make up a room for any guest, divine or human, we must sweep out the cob-webs of hurtful memories and clear away the dust of envy, regret, or sibling rivalry. If hospitality is to rule in our hearts and homes, then we must follow the rules of humility, graciousness, fairness, and mutual respect. In the end, we become wise and gracious innkeepers as we allow ourselves to see beyond appearances, grudges, and comparisons: ‘Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have entertained angels.’ ” — From “God’s Advent Artistry” by Jerry Welte

CCW CORNER: The third Sunday of Advent is call Gaudete (Latin for Rejoice). The third Sunday of Advent symbolizes Joy,
with the "Shepherd's Candle " reminding us of the joy the world experienced. Rose is a liturgical color that is used to signify joy,
so we light the rose candle. Focusing on the joy alone denies a crucially important truth: that the Christ Child is Our Lord
and Savior, who will suffer and die for our salvation. We are called to keep watch and to leave behind our sinful ways.
We also hear the recurring theme of a light shining through the darkness. There are three violet (purple) candles and
one rose (pink) candle, each representing 1,000 years. Added together, the four candle symbolize the 4,000 years
that humanity waited for the Savior. The burning flame is a visual reminder that Christ is "the light of the world "(John 8:12)

PLEASE CONSIDER CHRISTMAS AND SUNDAY
OFFERINGS TO SUPPORT OUR PARISH
You probably know a child who has a birthday on Christmas and in such a case, the family members would want to recognize both the birthday and Christmas with separate gifts. This year, Christmas Day falls on a Sunday and it is an opportunity to make the weekend doubly special. We rely on generous Christmas contributions every year to sup-port the ministries of our parish. Weekly Sunday offerings are also vital: it is through these ongoing gifts that we are able to fund staffing needs, building operation and mainte-nance costs, and the many services our parish provides. Please consider offering your regular Sunday gift and an additional Christmas gift to the parish.
If you receive a contribution envelope packet, you will find envelopes for both a Christmas offering and an offering for Sunday, December 25. You may give at Mass, or you may wish to contribute electronically. We understand that you may be traveling to visit loved ones this Christmas, and we want to make it easy to remember our parish during this joyful time. Thank you for your generous contributions at Christmas and throughout the year!

CAN YOU OFFER A WELCOMING
SMILE?
We are looking for individuals and
families that have the gift of hospitality and welcoming to
help us greet at our Christmas Masses this year. We want all of our parish family and guests to
know that we are so glad they are joining us for Christmas, and that they are a treasured part of our community.
A friendly smile and greeting can truly make this differ-ence. Through our welcome we hope all will see that Jesus
is alive, and working through all of us, here at St. Vincent de Paul. Please
join us, and be a part of this gift at our Christmas Masses. Contact Becky Hanel at [email protected]

Do you feel that God may be calling you to serve in Liturgical ministry?
We are currently in need of volunteers for several of the Liturgical Ministries here at St. Vincent de Paul.
We are in need of more Ushers, Lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.
Men and women who serve in these ministries must be Baptized and Confirmed Catholics. They should be
persons who sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their communal and individual lives.
They should faithfully participate in the Sunday Eucharist and with God’s grace in every aspect of their lives.
If you feel that you may be called to serve in one or more of these vital ministries, please contact the
Parish Office at (763) 425-2210 or e-mail Steve Barnhart at: [email protected].

We want to take this time to wel-come all families with young chil-dren to our parish. Your pres-ence helps to make our parish feel so alive.
We always welcome children to our liturgies but we know that they don’t always want to be in the large Church. Here are a few options to help you with your Mass experience:
The Children’s Chapel: This small room in the back of Church is a great place to be with your family and feel a part of the larger Church. The glass and sound system al-lows you to fully participate while giving a bit of space for them to be kids. There are also books to help keep them entertained.
Nursery: During the 9 AM Mass, the nursery (Community Room) will be open for all young children (6 months to 5 years). We will be following the same schedule as our Sun-day school program, the Mini Vinnie's (the schedule for this can be found at www.saintvdp.org/sunday-school).
Community Room: During the other Mass times (5 PM on Saturday, and 7:30 AM and 11 AM on Sunday) the Commu-nity Room will be open. This space is available to you for your children should they need a break from the large Church space or the Children’s Chapel.
We have added sound so that you will be able to hear the Mass as your child has a chance to stretch their legs, play with the toys that are there, and be able to move about as they need.
Welcome, New Parishioners!
