Vision Statement

We press toward this goal in the strength that God provides through trusting and proclaiming the life-changing message of the gospel as presented in the entire Bible.

The gospel is not about "doing better", “trying harder”, or "being good". The gospel is that helpless sinners are forgiven and accepted by God only through Christ’s righteous life and death on the cross as our substitute. If we trust in Christ alone we are given a whole new life and a new object of worship: the Triune God. The gospel is the good news of salvation and also the power for living life with changed affections.

As we rely on God's grace by embracing more of the gospel, every area of our life is affected. Change begins to take place in our relationships, careers, and community.

As a community of grace striving to love one another in deed and prayer, we are not a showroom of people who “have it all together”, but a repair shop for those who constantly need the love and mercy of God and have a humble passion to share it.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” -- John 13:34-35

Acts 17:1-15

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. 2 And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and

proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” 4 And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women. 5 But the Jews were jealous, and taking some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd. 6 And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, 7 and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.” 8 And the people and the city authorities were disturbed when they heard these things. 9 And when they had taken money as security from Jason and the rest, they let them go. 10 The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now

these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. 12 Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing as well as men. 13 But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Berea also, they came there too, agitating and stirring up the crowds.

Communion, also called The Lord’s Supper, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committed followers of Jesus Christ to partake of this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation which proclaims the gospel, who are at peace with God and with their neighbor, and who seek strength to live more faithfully for Christ. If you are not a Christian, or if you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with His people, the church.

Baptized children of an age appropriate to understand the preached Word who have been admitted to the Supper by the leadership of a congregation that proclaims the Gospel, or who have been admitted to the table by our Session, are invited to partake.  Please see a member of the Session for information on communing membership for your children.

Both wine and grape juice are offered for communion. The wine is served in the two outer rings of the communion trays and the center ring contains juice. After the Lord’s Supper, elders will be available at the front of the auditorium for prayer or to respond to questions.

you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding for you that is coherent, convincing, and leads to the life that you promise. Amen.

Prayer of Belief: Lord, Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through you, I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared to hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my savior. Amen.

Prayer of Struggling Against Sin: Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my needs, and may turn from every false satisfaction to find complete satisfaction in you. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely to me, and run with perseverance the race that you have set before me, looking only to you, the pioneer and champion of my faith. Amen.

Dear Ladies,Have your kids gotten too big for their britches?

Do you have clothing that you no longer wear or want?The Christian Hope Resource Center gives out free food and clothing to those living in the poorest area of San Antonio. Right now the CHRC has a great need for used clothing, especially coats and jackets for men and boys. However, they can also use any article of clothing including hats, gloves, boots, shoes, and purses.Please bring in your used clothing and place them in the box in the fellowship hall. Clothing will be collected until Sunday, February 6th. If you have a wedding gown that you are willing to part with, I also know of an organization in San Antonio that has a use for that as well. Ask Dale Castaneda about it or email delcastaneda@juno.com.
