Welcome

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God with

thanksgiving for God’s provision of the Ebenezer Building for our Children’s Ministry. Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen.

He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far has the Lord helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12

The King’s Brass Tim Zimmerman, director

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An Elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available outside of St. Andrew’s Hall. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 109) located in the wing behind the sanctuary and to the left, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

The Prelude—What Wondrous Love Is This? .....................................arr. Mark Hayes

†The Call to Worship ....................................................................................1 Peter 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

When peace like a river attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,“It is well with my soul!”

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,The clouds be rolled back as a scroll:The trumpet shall sound and the Lord shall descend,Even so—it is well with my soul!

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ................................................. Hebrews 2:14, 17Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

Great and glorious God, who knows and judges the secrets of every human heart; we do acknowledge and confess that we have followed the path of Adam in rebelling against your commandments. We have turned from your ways and from your blessed presence, and have reaped the misery of disobeying you, the very author of life. None of us is righteous, no not one; we lack understanding, we fail to seek God; we use our tongues to deceive and our mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. We are vengeful, unkind and unjust; our carelessness and sin have hurt our brothers and sisters. We do not practice the way of peace; we lack the fear of God. We appeal to you and your great mercy made manifest in Jesus Christ, your obedient son, that you would forgive our sins for his sake. Just as Christ was raised from the dead by your glory, so raise our dead hearts, that we may walk in newness of life. Amen. adapted from Jeremiah 17 and Romans 3, 5, 6

The Offertory—Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing ....................... arr. Mark Hayes

**The Offering (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

*‡The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Jeremy Wells, solo

Come, thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace.Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above;Praise his name—I’m fixed upon it, name of God’s redeeming love!

Hither to thy love hast blest me; thou hast brought me to this place; And I know thy hand will bring me safely home by thy good grace.Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;He, to rescue me from danger, bought me with his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be!Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee!Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart, O take and seal it; seal it for thy courts above!

The Evening Service

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!

Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing.

Know that the Lord, he is God; it is he who has made us, and not we ourselves;

We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful to him, and bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100

Dedication of Building ............................................................ Dr. George Robertson

Prayer of Dedication

Beloved in the Lord, we are gathered to consecrate and set apart this building for the ministry of the one living and true God. Let us therefore dedicate this place to its proper and sacred uses.

To you, God and Father of Jesus Christ, our Lord: We dedicate this building.

To you, eternal Son of God, Redeemer of your people and head of the Church: We dedicate this building.

To you, Spirit of God, Lord and giver of life, our teacher, sanctifier and comforter:We dedicate this building.

For the teaching of the gospel of the grace of God: We dedicate this building.

For the diffusion of sacred knowledge; for the promotion of righteousness; for the extension of the kingdom of God:

We dedicate this building. For release of the captives; for recovering of sight to the blind; for rest to the heavy laden:

We dedicate this building. For comfort to those who mourn; for strength to those who are tempted; for assurance to those of little faith:

We dedicate this building. For the sanctifying of the family; for the nurture of the young; for the perfection of believers:

We dedicate this building. In gratitude for the gracious keeping of the divine covenant throughout past generations; in reliance upon the promise that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church; in the hope of the eternal glory of the Church Triumphant:

We dedicate this building.
