As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.
WelcomeTo Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit our welcome desk in the Welcome Center, located directly behind the sanctuary.
Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.
Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church, or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Narthex and in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.
Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-K through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Children in pre-K through second grade remain in their classrooms until they are picked up by a parent.
Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (#160) located in the Ebenezer Building behind the sanctuary. The Telfair Room (#100) is designated as the Family Room. It is a great place for parents with restless children to be able to listen to the sermon and also train our youngest worshipers how to participate in the services. Both rooms are equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.
Additional Seating Please see ushers for overflow seating.
We are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

†The Call to Worship .............................................................................. Isaiah 9:2, 6-7The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!
Hear my cry, O God, attend unto my prayer; From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, When my heart is overwhelmed, Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy.
When I cry unto God then shall my enemies turn back; This I know, for God is for me. In God will I praise his word,In God I have put my trust, in God will I praise his word. Let my mouth be filled with praise, and with thy honor all the day. Amen.

†The Confession of Faith ................................................................ Colossians 1:15-20
Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
The Response—My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less .......................................Solid Rock
(Sung by all)My hope is built on nothing lessThan Jesus’ blood and righteousness;I dare not trust the sweetest frame,But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand,All other ground is sinking sand.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,Oh, may I then in Him be found;Dressed in His righteousness alone,Faultless to stand before the throne.Edward Mote, 1834 | William B. Bradbury, 1863

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .......................................from Ephesians 5:23-27Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
§The Personal Confession of Sin
Loving Lord Jesus Christ, who came to seek and to save the lost, who invites theweary and the overburdened to rest, and who heals the hurting: we confess that we have lost our way. Forgive our wayward and willful disobedience. Lead us back to you. Forgive us for every thought, word, or deed that has brought hurt to others, harmed ourselves, or dishonored your name. Heal the pain we have caused. Grace us with your Holy Spirit and lead us once again in the way that leads to life. Amen.

From weariness of sin I turn at last, O Lord, to thee, My eyes and heart grown dim from looking long on vanity. I venture toward thy radiance then, compelled to come by grace, And in the pages of thy Word behold thy lovely face.
Face of glory, turned upon me, I cannot but thee adore. To behold thee, O my Savior, is to love thee more and more.
When someday I before thee stand, a debtor to thy grace, And gaze with heaven’s eyes upon the brightness of thy face, Transformed into thy likeness, all my sin thrust far away, With millions of redeemed ones, I will lift my voice and say:
