The UMW Wednesday Morning Study Group will resume their weekly meetings Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. in Room 201 in the Adult Education Building. That day will be a time to get acquainted and re-acquainted.

Beginning Sept. 18 the group will begin a six-week study—“It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way”—based on the book by Lysa Terkeurst. Life often looks so very different than we had hoped or expected. Whether we are dealing with daily disappointments or life-altering loss, we can find unexpected strength as we learn what it means to wrestle well between our faith and our feelings, discovering how our lives fit into the context of God’s bigger story.

The books will cost $13. Please contact Margaret Jones at 512-892-2048 or [email protected] to sign up for the class and to order a book. A group book order will be submitted on Sept. 4. (The book is available for individual purchase on Amazon Prime and Kindle.)

COMMUNITY MINISTRIES NEWS

Helping Out Our NeighborsOur partners in ministry from The Other Ones Foundation maintain a clothes closet for their clients, and Oak Hill UMC is about to launch a new ministry in partnership with the Oak Hill Community Alliance. In this program, we will set up a location one Sunday afternoon a month to provide food and needed clothing to our neighbors in the Oak Hill area experiencing homelessness.

You can support this ministry with donations of clothing and shoes as you clean our closets. Special needs include men’s and women’s casual clothing such as pants/jeans, t-shirts, athletic shoes, and work boots. No dress clothes are needed at this time.

If you have donations, drop them off in bins just inside the Hetjmanek Building (your church key will open the building) or bring themto the Connection Station on Sundays beginning in September. As temperatures cool, the need will shift away from shorts to more cool-weather seasonal clothing, including jackets and hoodies.

If you have questions, visit the Connection Station on Sunday mornings, or contact Vicki Matustik at [email protected].
