Welcome

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty.

Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.

Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name?

For you alone are holy.

All nations will come and worship before you,

For your righteous acts have been revealed.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

The heavens are declaring the Lord’s endless glory;Through all the earth his praise is found. The seas re-echo the marvelous story,O man, repeat that glorious sound! He wakes the sun from his night-curtained slumbers;O man, adore the King of Kings!

What power and splendor and wisdom and order,In nature’s mighty plan unrolled!Through space and time to infinity’s border,What wonders vast and manifold! He is and will be, through ages unending,A God of strength and love untold!

The Old Testament Lesson ........................................................................ Isaiah 65:17-25page 1164 in the pew Bible

The Response—Holy, Holy, Holy! ................................................................... Nicaea(Sung by all)Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

†The Confession of Faith ...............................................................The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ............................................................Isaiah 1:18“Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”

Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being; whose face is hidden from us by our sins; and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts. We confess that we have not loved you as we ought. We have neglected to glorify you in thought, word, and deed, and we have sought our own interests without consideration of you. We earnestly ask that you would cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires. With lowliness and meekness, we draw near to you, confessing our faults, resting in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and our strength; through Jesus Christ your Son. Amen.

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

I will lift my eyes to the hills; from where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. My hope is in the Lord!

He will not let you stumble, he will not let you fall. The One who watches over you neither slumbers nor sleeps at all.The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm; he will guard your life!

I will lift my eyes to the hills; from where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. My hope is in the Lord, both now and forever more!

Offertory—By an’ By, I’m Gonna Lay Down My Heavy Load ......... Bailey and Mayo

Lynn Shaw Bailey and Becki Slagle Mayo | BLP Choral Music ©2015

Oh, by an’ by, by an’ by, I’m gonna lay down my heavy load. Oh, by an’ by, by an’ by, I’m gonna lay down my heavy load. Oh, one fine morning bright and fair, I’m gonna lay down my heavy load.I’ll fly like angels in the air, I’m gonna lay down my heavy load. At heaven’s gates I’ll sing and shout, I’m gonna lay down my heavy load. There’s no one there to turn me out, I’m gonna lay down my heavy load. By an’ by, by an’ by, when the morning comes, When the saints of heav’n are gathered home.

We will tell the story how we’ve overcome and we’ll understand it better by an’ by.Yes, we’ll understand it better by an’ by.
