*We Invoke His Presence

God Exposes Our Need 1 Peter 2:11-12 David Barnes, Student Ministry Director

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

We Confess Our Sin

Christ Provides for Our Need 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

*We Invoke His Help Psalm 4:6b-7a Les Prouty, Elder

Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord! You have put more joy in my heart.

God Calls Us to Stewardship 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

We Give Our Tithes and Offerings

5“We shine the Spotlight On Christ”

We Prepare for God’s Word Joy in the Morning Debbie Nagy, Patti Palmer, Bob Nagy, Mike Piles

There’ll be joy in the morning on that day,For the daylight will dawn when the darkness is gone,There’ll be joy in the morning on that day.

There’ll be peace and contentment evermore,Ev’ry heart, ev’ry voice will together rejoice,There’ll be peace and contentment evermore.

And the glory, glory, glory of the Lord, Will shine, will shine (shine upon us)And the glory, glory, glory of the Lord, Will bring the truth divine.

There’ll be love and forgiveness ev’rywhere,And the way of the Lord will that day be restored; There’ll be love and forgiveness ev’rywhere.

There’ll be love and forgiveness, There’ll be peace and contentment, There’ll be joy, joy, joy, joy,…JOY!

God Proclaims His Word David Barnes, Student Ministry Director Sermon Series 1 Peter Scripture Text 1 Peter 1:1-9 | page 1014 in pew Bible Sermon Title An Eternal Cause for Rejoicing

*God reveals Our Eternal Joy! 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Leader: So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. All: For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

6June 4, 2017: Volume 31 , Issue 23

*We Rejoice at the Cross!

*God Invites Us to His Table 1 Corinthians 11:23-29I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.

We Feed on Christ by Faith Dr. Russell St. John Bread Amazing Love

My Lord what love is this that pays so dearly; That I, the guilty one, may go free?Amazing love, O what sacrifice, the Son of God giv’n for me;My debt He pays and my death He dies, That I might live, that I might live.

When I Survey the Wondrous CrossWhen I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died,My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.See, from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down,Did e’er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small.Love so amazing so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all!

Cup

I Cannot TellI cannot tell why He, the Joy of Heaven, Should leave the peace of all eternity,Why Holy God should love me in my shamefulness, Why He should die to draw my soul to Him.But this I know; that Christ the Lord is risen,And praise His name, He’s risen now in me!Because He lives, I’ll rise to life eternal! He took my guilty heart, and I’m forever free!

Christ the Lord is Risen Today!Christ the Lord is risen today. Alleluia!Sons of men and angels say: Alleluia!Raise your joys and triumphs high. Alleluia!Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply: Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done. Alleluia!Fought the fight, the battle won. Alleluia!Death in vain forbids Him rise. Alleluia!Christ has opened paradise. Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led. Alleluia!Foll’wing our exalted Head. Alleluia!Made like Him, like Him we rise. Alleluia!Ours the cross, the grave, the skies. Alleluia!

Begining Today - Summer Adult Sunday School - 9 am

Hermeneutics for Dummies| Dr. Bob Stuart| Lecture HallSome of us feel like dummies when it comes to interpreting Scripture. Yet, interpretation is vitally important, for how a person views and handles Scripture will radically affect what he believes and how he lives. This Sunday School study will give the average believer tools for interpreting God’s Word and the means by which to handle some difficult and confusing passages. If you have ever felt “dumb” and “not approved” in handling God’s Word, then this course is for you!

Judges| Brian Roby| Room 213 Paranormal and supernatural activities, feats of superhuman strength, political intrigue and assassination, genocide, rampant sexual immorality. What is this, The Avengers meets the Nightly News? No, it’s all in the Book of Judges. Come study stories both familiar and obscure as we together seek to find Christ in them all.

Our church is therefore committed to empowering a Christian school, which serves as one leg of a three legged stool: the family, the church , and the school who all labor together in order to train our covenant children to know and love and serve Jesus Christ. Please review our Mission Statement and celebrate with us the beauty of this threefold pattern for the Christian education of our God’s precious children.

• Pray that more families will recognize the need to choose Christian education.
