    WOW November 011

Following sell out seasons in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Japan, the international smash hit musical Blood Brothers continues to tour the UK, coming to Northampton for one week only.

Hailed as one of the best musicals of all time, Willy Russells Blood Brothers has triumphed across the globe, scooping up no less than four awards for best musical in London and seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway. This epic tale of Liverpool life has been running in Londons West End, since July 1988 and touring the UK since 1995.

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving story of twin boys separated at birth, only to be reunited, by a twist of fate and a mothers haunting secret. The memorable score includes A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me Its Not True.

When Mrs Johnstone, a young mother, is deserted by her husband and left to her own devices to provide for seven hungry children she takes a job as a housekeeper in order to make ends meet. It is not long before her brittle

world crashes around her when she discovers herself to be pregnant yet again this time with twins! In a moment of weakness and desperation, she enters a secret pact with her employer which leads inexorably to the shows shattering climax.

A sensational cast, incredible show stopping music, remarkable staging and five star performances make Blood Brothers an enthralling night of entertainment. Willy Russell is undeniably one

of this countrys leading contemporary dramatists, whose countless credits include Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.

CraNfOrD aT ChrISTmaSThursday 1st DecemberDeep in the frosty English countryside, chestnuts are roasting and carols are being sung as the folk of Cranford busily prepare for Christmas, bedecking each and every household with wreaths of holly and mistletoe. But beyond this cosy hubbub of festivity, snow continues to fall and when disaster strikes, the community must unite to keep the spirit of Christmas alive. Chapterhouse proudly presents this heart-warming tale of charity and goodwill to all women and men to celebrate this most magical time of year.

this confident company should be commended for their enthusiastic production The

WEDNESDay 23 NOvEmBErWritten and performed by Maxwell Golden, CountryBoys Struggle is a unique solo show, which comes to The Core at Corby Cube on Wednesday 23 November. The show uses a hip hop style to tell a very honest story of one mans search for a sense of belonging in a foreign environment.

Inspired by Maxwells own time spent growing up in the coastal community of Bude in Cornwall, CountryBoys Struggle integrates music, poetry and MC-ing with physical comedy to reflect both rural and urban environments. The one-man show perfectly captures how it feels to grow up with a sense of isolation a fish out of water story which is full of humanity, pathos and warm wit.

CountryBoys Struggle comes to The Core on Wednesday 23 November. To book, call the Ticket Line on 01536 470 470 or visit

Writer and performer Maxwell Golden says: Its about what its like living in a rural area and wanting to make urban music, then moving to the city and finding its not what you expect especially when your heart and soul is on the beaches and with the community you grew up in. Although it is performed predominantly through the aesthetic of modern UK Hip Hop theatre, the real emotion underlying the story is always of upmost importance

The performance is complemented with a workshop and engagement activity, which aims to provide a platform for young artists from both rural and urban environments.

Contacts Artistic Director Baba Israel comments: Im

really excited about directing Maxwell Goldens CountryBoys Struggle. Maxwell is a fantastic artist with a background in hip hop and spoken word but also in clown and physical theatre and hes going to bring together those skills to tell a really important story about a young man and his journey. I think this is going to be a new kind of show that is going to create a bridge between two worlds between the world of rural and the world of urban, and it will engage young people from those areas to start creating their own expression.
